one of the two busts was returned as scheduled and is in the ambassador's house in dc

there is still a bust of churchill in the white house.

my question is who gives a damn? what makes you think you can demand our president has a bust of one of YOUR leaders in OUR white house?

our president wanted lincoln, another president from his state who brought THIS nation back together in a very divided time. i think that's appropriate.

the facts are, that the churchill bust in the white house owns is still there and it wasn't returned as a slap in the face

Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

i really hope that has nothing to do with the issues regarding the recording

QCMBR, I have no doubt that the transatlantic relationship will survive Obama. The ties that bind our two nations are too strong and dear to be so easily sundered, bungling charismatic idiots notwithstanding. From an American to a Briton, I apologize for the stupidity that brought this charlatan to power and continues to sustain him. This too shall pass.

what's that gotta do with the churchill thing?

i'm sure there's plenty of things he's done to irritate you if the bust things grates at you. i'll take a look later.

i'd have said my bit whether it was bush, reagan, clinton, whomever. i'd even say that to americans if YOU gys did the same thing. why should americans DEMAND a bust of one of our presidents in your palace? that's YOUR country and your right to have whomever you chose up on the walls as inspiration. as long as we can work together and have a good working relationship, what difference does it make?

There are two Churchill busts. One was on loan during the Bush administration and was returned to the British Ambassor's residence in DC. Here's the link: http://abcnews.go.com/politics/t/blogEntry?id=16873353

Its a ridiculous non issue blown up to make out like Obama purposely slighted the Britsh people. Totally false but those who want to believe the slander won't care a wit what I or anyone else says about this non issue.

Its not hard to look this stuff up people.

Almost got to bed. Still teeth brushed :D .

Bts - you got me in the feelies. Thank you.

Hades - sometimes we crush our closest friends not by open attack but slowly by our casual disdain. The bust is unimportant, the UK has no right to dictate how the President decorates his office - these are given - but with one simple act, one seemingly insignificant piece of paperwork he sent a message that however unplanned was symbolically telling. Romney is getting owned now because he's brand new, all his gaffes are fresh, Obama's have been made so consistently and over such a long time they just get forgotten. I like Obama like most Brits, I just kinda know he doesn't like us quite as much back.

Bizzy - this Brit is in high dudgeon over a slight to his honour.

Get over it. Your honour has not been slighted in the slightest. The whole story is here:

    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/07/is-the-churchill-bust-controversy-a-total-bust/

Briefly, Bust A was on loan (by Tony Blair) to the G. W. Bush for the duration of his administration. It was scheduled for return in January 2009. Had nothing to do with Obama.

    Relax.
