Oh my Earthfire! Good for your sister, how dare they harass your sister like that.
Should I just DA or get DFD?

My two cents. I don't post a lot but do come here to read everyone's post and I enjoy them. I am currently in the second year of my "fade", my wife; god love her is still in; but barely I think. Anyway, I think you should do neither, that is my plan as well. They have no power unless we give it to them. If you get df'd or decide to write a letter; a letter they will not read just scan for the words " I no longer want to be a Jw"; then as others have said before, you are playing by their rules. Just dissappear, avoid, be a whisp of smoke that they cannot hold on to. That's what I have been doing and despite my humor at the "preemptive shunning" when they find out your inactive, it is working very nicely.
Have a terrific day and let us know how you make out.
Kensei.

Julia, Best of luck on whatever you decide.
I think I'll start another thread about my own strategy that has kept me away from abuse and harassment by the BoE.

JULIA ORWELL:
There are many good posts above and I particularly relate to some points in AUNTFANCY's longer post.
I have no use for the religion and have no tolerance for them acting like they are the "superior authorities". They wish!
They are a bunch of nobodies and it is high time you started treating them as such.

Done and Done! It's been nearly a week since this happened to me, and I've had ample time to let it sink in and ponder over it. The experience with my long time JW friend depressed me for days, but now I can look at the situation and say, "It's just this cult I used to be in..." and leave it at that.

Julia - Your name will be dragged in the mud ?
When worrying about criticism , consider the source.
This little microcosm of the Kingdom Hallers is a fantasy
world filled with people who will never grow up, its
Never Never Land, somehow Michael Jackson knew that
and named his Ranch after the place that never was.
The real world does real work, builds communities, educates
its young, develops talents, connects with other people.
Leaving Never Never land is not easy, but its the only way
to grow up and God knows , this world needs more grownups.

Great points! Good to leave that puerility behind.

Dear Julia, much good advice above. The main thing is to not precipitate anything. Just live your life, and if they start giving you grief, let us know and we will help you deal with it. You are our Lil Sista, so we will look after your interests.
Once you DA/DF that is final, you may well regret doing it in years to come, for example, as dear friends stuck in the cult begin to doubt and wish to make a move, they at that point would feeel unable to come to you, if you are merely inactive no such problem exists.
A successful fade leaves you free in that way, although it is not as "clean" as DAing or DFing.
It is early days yet, let things roll on, you can decide at any time, even years down the line, to send in a DA letter if you really want to.
