Alphaman quote: "There is no way you DISGUSTING (Bold type mine) Islam defenders can spin a late 50's man having sex with a child." I have agreed with much of what you have said throughout this debate but calling people names who hold a different opinion in a civil debate is uncalled for.

So Sunni chroniclers may have had an interest in showing she was young when she married to dispel any dispute about her virginity.

So then they must pay the price in bad publicity and criticism as a result OR THEY MUST CHANGE THE NARRATIVE.

This is what the whole thing is about - religions being too stupid and stubborn to change their made-up nonsense to some other more acceptable fiction.

Religion never changes because it "see the light" (pun intended) ... only ever because it is forced to because of changing times and opinion and risk of losing their flock to other religions.

Oh, and because government steps up and protects it's citizens from it's excesses.

When religion gets control of government it's usually a bad thing because for religion to be in control usually means they wanted and pushed for control because they want to impose their ideology on the masses with the backing of law (or rather, the removal of protections).

I think most people would agree with a slightly reworded version: "Defending a late 50's man having sex with a child is disgusting". We can all decide what we think of anyone who wants to try and make such a defense and may chose to view them as disgusting for presenting it.

But yeah, we've done well to keep this pretty civil.

    .

You are entitled to your own opinion, but if the pedophile act is disgusting, I'm pretty sure by extention the defending of the pedophile act is disgusting also. When you add that it is in regard to Mohammad the founder of Islam that sure much settles it, If I didn't want to be considered disgusting, I would remove myself from association or defense of the disgusting acts.

Name calling cheapens the argument. Simon's correction of your statement is pretty good although I simply would have worded it: 'There is no way Islam defenders can spin a late 50's man having sex with a child."

Just breaking on the news. Isis has an aid worker, white American, who is a converted Muslim. Moderate, of course. They are getting the hype going which will probably culminate in a video taped beheading. A message to "moderate" Muslims to take a stand. No more wishy washy.

As Jesus said "either cold or hot, if you are lukewarm I will spit you out of my mouth"

Islam is a religion of fear not love!.

    1John 4:18-19

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

    never forget this...

US politician, commentator, and Fundamentalist Christian Mike Huckabee says he will quit the GOP because of the Party "caving in" on Gay Rights.

I remember that time when as a JW I would defend the Bible against all comers. I can imagine the struggle within the Muslim community as they mentally battle the modern world of science and real interaction with people of all persuasions and their old and outdated Holy Book.
