But he is a Muslim. He believes in Islam. in Islam, the disease. Doesn't make sense to be so absolute, does it?

Well, you are either incapable of understanding what I've said or, more likely, determined to misunderstand and misquote. Because I know your MO I suspect it's the latter.

Rushdie is one who is doing exactly what I said needs to be done: telling the world that this is NOT the word of god (that the teaching to kill is wrong).

    Pretty simple isn't it?

Oh, and Rushdie came from a muslim family but identifies himself as an atheist so your promise is faulty (he is not a mulsim). He said he was 'pretending' to me a muslim in the past (because of the fatwa).

    From Wikipedia:

The issue was said to have divided "Muslim from Westerners along the fault line of culture," [3] [4] and to have pitted a core Western value of freedom of expression —that no one "should be killed, or face a serious threat of being killed, for what they say or write" [5] —against the view of many Muslims—that no one should be free to "insult and malign Muslims" by disparaging the "honour of the Prophet" Muhammad . [6] English writer Hanif Kureishi called the fatwā "one of the most significant events in postwar literary history." [7]

Of course moderate followers of Islam are afraid of saying anything , they know what the consequences are. My friend from Iran knew too, that is why he left Iran. H'ed not beleive that the country he feld to ( usa) for relief is now facing the same thing he left.

Weren't most of us afraid to let anyone know we no longer beleived the WTS had the "truth" ? Most of us were and some still are. They ( wts) can seriously affect our lives.

This entire thread is really about this, but so many have tired to turn it into a place to just bash other posters for things like- watching fox news. I quess if we heard the news about the beheading from CNN it was more legitimate.

Btw, Gregor is a poster on this board-- Confused-- and would be missed. You display a mean-spirited & a hatefilled attititude and from now on I will ignore your posts.

sorry about typos, no spell check.

Simon, for what it's worth, I was under the impression that rushdie was a Muslim. Please do not resort to judging me by suggesting you know my "MO". My comment was an honest one. Ali, the Greatest is also a Muslim and I don't see him as mentally diseased because of his beliefs. Michael Jackson was said to have been a Muslim too and he certainly wasn't into killing everyone that was an infidel. Same goes for Cat Stevens, as far as I know.

The greatest crime that Islam committed was robbing us of Cat Stevens music :)

I would argue that people like MJ treat being a Muslim as a lifestyle choice (or sucking up to sone sheik he wanted to bankroll his concerts) and don't represent Muslims any more than ... well, MJ represented typical JWs when that was his deal.

Minimus: I apologize if I was wrong.
