And the colonialists had nothing to do with the chaos and violence that followed?

...so the current SIZE of the terrorist threat makes Islamic terrorism worse than any other?

Your all-or-nothing thinking does nobody any favours.

By your argument Buddhist terrorists shouldn't exist. There is no allowance for overt violent acts in the Buddhist belief system.

@jgnat - your or your son in law's attempt at apportioning blame in the Rwandan 1994 massacre is complete b*ll*cks.

No Westerner forced the machetes in their hands, forced them to chop others up or rape the women. I'm old enough to remember the news reports. It was usually referred to as a 'tragedy' - a weasel word suggesting that the Rwandan attackers just couldn't help themselves. At some point the liberal elite are going to have to revise the belief that the 3rd World was some kind of utopia before the West arrived, and that 3rd World cultures equal 1st world cultures in merit.

You make a good point regarding Bhuddist terrorism - I am ignorant of this and have no answer.

Christianity sorted itself out from it's violent roots. Islam will too.

Typical liberal "la-de-da I know some nice Muslims" BS. Islam will not "sort" itself from violence. It's in their friggin holy book to do violence to Christians, Jews & any non-Muslim. It's gotten even worse since 9/11. The more Westerners sympathize with Islam the worse Islamic violence & terrorism will get.

jgnat: 'the bible promotes wiping out of neighbouring tribes' - no, it doesn't.

It describes the wiping out of neighbouring tribes. It is not an open-ended command.

Why are people constantly saying "liberals?" That's the most telling thing about having complete either/or mentality. What is with these dumb either/or labels?

Also, it's odd that Rwandan people are "entirely' to blame for killing each other, Muslim (Arabs) are entirely to blame for what they have done, but Americans "didn't invent slavery" and "look at the Africans and the Arabic people."

To solve widespread world issues, you have to address the ROOT causes behind them. High levels of crime will always exist as long as their is poverty and desperation. Focusing on the criminal after the fact doesn't solve the problem nearly as much as focusing on the root cause. The same applies to things like terrorism and widespread oppression and bigotry. That's why things like sociology should be necessary study for people, really.

Anyone that wants to can selectively quote verses from the Old Testament to desperate and angry people with a Christian background. "It's a command in one case and an example in another cause loook at the contexxxxttt in the latter instance of this book we know a little more about!" doesn't work when all religions based on stupid books are pretty much ALL based on random out of context quotes from their stupid books.

Muslims will have to find the courage to disconnect the quran from the edicts of big Al.

This is how chrstians and Jews solved the problem of their nasty Old Testament. It is perfectly credible to be a proud christian or Jew while eschewing the ravings of Yahweh as recorded in the book. Currently no Muslim can do likewise.

Until Muslims find a way to do the same they are in an impossible dilemma. Continuing to pretend that the quran is the very words of Allah and that their psychopathic bretheren are just reading it wrong has no credibility. We can all read it on the internet and see how hateful it is for ourselves and so can the Islamists.

They urgently need a reformation which will have to come from within.

    .

I guarantee we will be on here discussing many more Islamic barbaric terrorism acts, before there is even one Muslim reformation act of any note. When the next horrific mass Muslim terrorist act happens the Muslim sympathizers here will dissappear like cockroaches when a light is turned on.

Work on your reading comprehension. I have a son-in-law who is Rwandan. I have sympathy for what happened to him (lost ten of his twelve siblings and his parents in the massacre) so I have read up on the history, causes, etc. extensively. All he has said about the matter is, "There is no Hutu or Tutsi; we are all Rwandan." and sadly, "I do not think we will see peace for many generations."
