I can't find the post where you said what would have been the incentive to quit smoking if you had been reinstated without quitting first, without the discipline of being DF (sorry to paraphrase)....
The incentive should always be love, acceptance and assistance of fellow Christians.

Not to be harsh, I do feel for you a great deal. I was DF for smoking, and it doesn't feel good; at one point in time, I would have done anything to get back (except quit smoking, obviously...lol and now I realize why I didn't....) While I believe one should "never say never", I don't see how, at this point in time, knowing what I know now, in no small part due to Simon's board and the people here, I could ever go back.

Andy : My point about abuse being kept behind closed doors is directed to adults who can speak for themselves. I can't explain why but it just is a fact that we keep quiet until there is a breaking point. A little self respect can go a long way but you lose that along the way ... get it beaten out of you. Then you snap ... you or me buddy ... and eventually you get to be who you used to be. If you haven't been there you will never understand the pain!!
Now children is a different story. They are to be protected at all costs. The way I see it, someone is really not even human to hurt a child in any way. I've been out of the loop for quite a while so don't much about the abuse problem in the society. Yes, I own a tv and read newspapers so I should be more informed but am not.
