Hello, Northern Girl, and welcome to the board.

Actually I was speaking more of the way you've been treated since your arrival. I tend to agree that you have been "bashed", "attacked", or whatever way you want to say it. It's nothing new. It happens every time a JW shows up 'round here. Don't take it personally. We're just trying to help.

Myself... I have no problems with you or what you choose to believe. See... I was raised 'in the truth' and spent more than 30 years of my life as a very active and loyal Witness so I know where you're coming from. Several of my closest family members are still JWs. For that reason, I have no ill will against any of Jehovah's Witnesses. Never will.

I think there are people (like my mother) who actually do better as JWs than otherwise. People like that really NEED to be Witnesses or otherwise they would not be able to live a happy life. You may be one of those, too. You are free to live your life however you choose, and if your desire is to be reinstated, rest assured that is what I want for you. Just as we are free to be ex-JWs if that's our choice, you are free to worship Jehovah if that's what you want to do. I have no problem with that.

    May Jah be with you.

    Peace.

teejay : Thanks for the welcome. You sound like a very nice person (for an exJW ..lol). When or if I get reinstated I certainly will have to curb my natural curiosity and kiss the internet good bye. At the moment though, I'd give it up in a flash to be back in the group. Thanks again ...northern girl.

Being on the outside looking for some time now, I've had many people tell me that there is no way they or their family members would ever take a blood transfusion. They have no idea what my beliefs are so are telling me this with no 'strings'. I am friends with the head of nursing in a hospital and she wouldn't allow any of her family to take blood either. What she will do is periodically store her own blood. She says most people who get blood would have made it without blood but the doctors are covering their proverbial ***.

Sorry, I don't believe you. Make sense here, why would the head of a nursing dept not allow her family to take blood? Oh, she will store her own blood. I see. So, why did you bring this up, since she will indeed take a blood transfusion? It doesn't address my comments in the least. And all those people that tell you they would never take a blood transfusion? Odd bunch you run with, but I simply don't believe you or them. Of course they would take a blood transfusion. No one, save for Jehovahs Witnesses (for the greatest part) will die rather than accept blood. Why on earth would anyone prefer to die rather than accept blood, northern girl? This does not compute. Who carries around "no blood transfusion" cards, northern girl? Your worldly friends, or your witness friends?

You really have bought into the JW propaganda about the safety of blood. You really ought to inform yourself with the facts.

And then there is the bible. I'll let you do that research yourself, but I'll touch on it in my next comment.

And then there is the accusation you make of God when you accuse him of wanting someone to die rather than live when blood will save their life. Is god so small and petty? Jesus didn't think so. Does northern girl?

Even so, I agree with the org. that the cong. must be kept clean. If they had welcomed me back while I still smoked, what would have been my incentive to clean up my act.

Uh, gee northern girl..... I guess I can't see any incentive for you to clean up your act. *said in my most bitingly sarcastic dumb guy voice, to point out how completely vapid your statement is*

Gee, I wonder how much money it cost to run an ad on national TV for your stop-smoking patch. Dummies, don't they know they are just pissing away millions of dollars. There are only a handful of df'd Jehovahs Witnesses on this planet who even have a reason to want to stop smoking.

Problem is, there is no biblical basis for disfellowshipping simply because someone smokes. I don't like smoking, but, cut a person off from their family and community because of a weakness??? ASSHOLES, go ahead, you without sin, cast the first stone. Re-frickin'-diculous. Do they df people for having a diet that will kill them and makes them look like a slothful glutton? Hipocrits, offspring of vipers.

But it's even better than that... read your bible where the idea of shunning comes from. Can you follow the bible and follow the JW method??? That would be a big NO. Also, what was the person's sin in the bible story? A man was having sex with his step-mother, and would not stop. It was outrageous and known to the community. He was, btw, reinstated in a few short months, so that he wouldn't be "overcome with grief".

Sixofnine : Maybe I was too quick to thank you for sharing. If you can talk to me without blowing a gasket, I'll try again. I'm not known for lying .. friends of mine will NOT take blood and they are not JWs. Anyone who's read the news in the last, say, 20 years knows the dangers of blood. Think maybe Jehovah was protecting us with this edict.

You can say what you want about smoking, but I never had a cigarette I didn't like. Money and my health were of no concern ... all that mattered was the next puff. Like it or not, that is what addiction is all about. Hope you never go there.

    Take care ... northern girl.

Anyone who's read the news in the last, say, 20 years knows the dangers of blood. Think maybe Jehovah was protecting us with this edict.

I assume you meant that as a question?

Dying rather than living is hardly a protection, now is it? So, what exactly are the dangers of blood, northern girl? I really want to know what I've missed, and what medical science has missed as well. Please don't say aids, or hepC, or any of that other stuff, cuz me and medical science are well aware of those things. I want you to tell me why an intelligent person, seperate any religious influence, would refuse to take blood when they are in danger of bleeding to death.

Did Jehovah want 26 year old Model Nikki Taylor, mother of twin 6-year-old boys, to die, rather than be around to be their mother? How cruel to Nikki's mom, since her other daughter died from complications of asthma at 17. Nikki nearly died from internal bleeding, and blood saved her life. Not even a question about it. And that story is repeated daily.

For what it's worth, I would have refused blood, for myself and my child, a short 4 years ago. It embarrasses me to admit.

You can say what you want about smoking, but I never had a cigarette I didn't like. Money and my health were of no concern ... all that mattered was the next puff. Like it or not, that is what addiction is all about. Hope you never go there.

I guess don't see your point. You're weak? "Money and health were of no concern." Frankly, that's just amazing, but weakness is not something I think warrants ripping someone away from their family for. And let's face it, some people use smoking to cope with bigger things, even more stressful problems. Do I think that is a good way for them to cope? No... but I'm not the one with that weakness either.

Ever hear of inspiring people to do great things, rather than frightening them into conforming?

Btw, you haven't addressed the lack of biblical support for these things. (blood, and shunning as practised by JW's)

Also, mi gaskets are fine ty, I'm just very direct and like to see logic behind arguments (especially when those arguments seem to be for things that hurt people).

Sixofnine : It;s getting late, I'm getting tired .... So I've had a weakness ... like I said .. hope you don't ever go there. Maybe you could do some research on addiction before you pat yourself too much on the back. Like walk a mile in my shoes?

The blood issue is the blood issue. You see it your way ... I'll see it mine. It's really none of my concern what you think.

And about hurting people ... I'm sure you've done your fair share. You're trying hard enough with me but I've been around enough to let comments from people like you roll right off ... ng

You know what? Just go back.

By the time you die, it will be a religion of 5 million or less, and none of them will give any more thought to what they really believe than you do. You won't be really happy, but so what, right? You'll have that big booby prize waiting for you after death. woohoo.

Sixofnine : Why on earth are you in such a state? Since you have no problems with addictions, I won't recommend valium. Maybe just go for some warm milk ... ng.

Six, relax okay? No need to be so confrontational. You've made your points.

I am being sincere when I say I know how you feel. I actively defended the witnesses for a long time after I physically left. It was only after I did a lot of independant research that I realized how I'd been duped. To a degree I'm still upset that I was lied to but, I've come to terms with it. My parents are active witnesses so I do not, at all, hate witnesses. I do however have a strong dislike for the book publishing company that controls their lives.

Please keep an open mind and do what you think is right.
