Thank you to all who have welcomed me. I'm really not trying to stir up a bees nest, just telling Pooh my opinion. In the end she has to decide the right thing to do. Yes, we all have free will and I don't see why she has to give up association with her family because they are Baptists. Maybe things have changed since I last attended but we never used to have to give up family ties unless they were df'd.

I'm very surprised, Ken, that you are being approached by the PO. I was told recently that ones who have faded are being called on but not US. Maybe there is hope for moi ...

Pooh: Welcome, and my sincerest sympathies. A lot hinges on an earlier-asked question: Any children? If not, RUN! If so, get your family involved, get some support. This nightmare (even if it's not a nightmare yet) won't end on its own.

If hubby is so intent on relinquishing his own judgement on his own life, I fear you have little left. Above all, keep reading here and elsewhere. Study on the WTS' history and its more controversial teachings. If someone is sincerely trying to make you understand, and you are sincerely trying to understand, then you will. If you are sincerely trying to understand, and don't, they are just trying to baffle you with B.S. That is to say, trust your own judgement.

Northern Girl: My house has tinted, somewhat reflective windows for the afternoon sun. During Spring and early summer small birds run into them. Every now and then, we find another dead bird in front of the house, seemingly from flying full speed into windows. I think going back to the Hall is something like that. Welcome.

    Pooh,

If you have children, and you become a JW, and they someday need a blood transfusion, you will have to let them die. A JW in good standing cannot accept a blood transfusion, nor can they allow their children to do so.

Being a mother, that is the absolute first thing that would stop me from EVER going back to being a witness.

Good luck to you, and welcome to the board.

    Dear Northern Girl,

I'm really not trying to stir up a bees nest, just telling Pooh my opinion.

I understand that. Everyone here has a right to their opinion. I just happen to disagree with yours in this one case. It's nothing personal. I was just trying to understand more about where you were coming from. Your post was a little confusing to me.

And believe me, you didn't stir up any bees nest. This is a far cry from a bees nest. You should see some of the arguments that really get going around here.

BTW, looking back I realized I was neglectful in wishing you welcome, which I do to everyone. Just an oversight on my part.

    Welcome Northern Girl!

    Swan:

If I missunderstood your question, I appologize. The reason I said what I did to Pooh is that I DO believe in the JWs. No one knows better than I about being on the outside looking in. My only regret is getting df'd. She has the freedom to study and question anything she wants to and then make her own decision. And it has to be her own decision ... if she (stands by his choice) she isn't using her brain. Just because I was df'd doesn't mean that will happen to her or anybody else who joins.

OK, I can understand this reasoning.

Thanks for posting it. I understand a lot better now. But somehow I just don't quite believe that you believe it.

I really do mean the warm welcome, and hope you like it here, but I won't be the last one here to challenge your belief system, encourage your free thought, and get you to push your envelope a bit.

Have you read Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz? He used to be a member of the Governing Body back in the 1970s. His book is really good at encouraging your free thought. I'm sure many others here will join me in recommending it to you.

    Hi Northern Girl,

As I understand it, not longer after my d/f in 1993 the elders were meant to visit each year.

I've had one visit some 6 years ago, and in the village I live only had 2 (yes 2!!) general jw calls in 10 years.

Reason for PO contact now is the time is short (well shorter than before..)

    Swan:

Thanks for the HUGE welcome. I may come across as not totally believing but that IS missleading. My only way of coping about being df'd is to put on a happy face. Checking out this web site for the last few days has the old thoughts on the surface again. The book Crisis of Conscience isn't familiar to me. I read a lot; I still get the WatchTower and Awake. You likely don't consider these worthy literature but I do. Sometimes we can agree to disagree.

northern girl, I would also highly recommend "Crisis of Conscience", its not a book written by a bitter person, its very good.

A lot of people here has been hurt badly by the Watchtower so dont be surprised if some people dont take lightly to the Watchtower being praised. There are also a lot of people here who will embrace you regardless of your JW beliefs, stick around, its good to have you here.
