What is the Purpose of this Site - My personal opinion?

  When I first started to look at this site a flame war started not too soon after. This affected how I viewed the site and also changed how long it took me before I signed up.

  I think many other posters would rather have a higher level of moderation than a free wheeling site where anything goes. People that have been hurt by the WT or that are questioning the WT do not need the extra stress of a board that lacks focus and control.

  Having said that if enough people wanted more perhaps an "anything goes" category could be created where if people wanted to play rough could go. Any thing said and done there would not be tolerated outside in the rest of the site. This might be easier said than done.

  I appreciate they way the site works right now for the benefit of the majority of posters. The work that Simon and the mods do is a balancing act and a thankless job.Having said that....THANK YOU

  I have visited a few other ex JW boards and think they are just insane, and more importantly almost pornographic. I know I am a bit of a prude, but someone who has been a religious nut her whole life, is not going to respond well to that kind of stuff. Namely me.

  I agree with you that this board is for people like you and others leaving the Wt but there is a place for different types of exJW boards. The other type you describe would surely intimidate a doubting JW but they provide a form of support for others with their unique needs. Actually I wish they could realize this and we could all work together instead of feeling at odds.

  Sorry to here that, Poztate, but fully understand. And differences will occur. We simply expect those who care about the purpose of the board to take their differences off the board and come back after they have resolve their issues.

  No just 2laws You did not misunderstand. MY feeling is when JW get this page. they lurk for awhile see the fights, see the homosexueal, the drinkers , those who enjoy a sexuel joke.....Thats the world.... If they are like I was " A RELIGIOUS FANATIC" as a JW ---they too would opt off. But there are those who are seeking who >>>>ARE homosexuels, drunks, adulterers, etc. Who cannot afford a "head dr ( cant spell the pshco one) & are hiding in the "lie" they cannot be seen here. So they "spill their guts" Since I believed this was an UNCONDITIONAL site. No rules on spilling your thoughts ,feelings etc.....But if we are going to put stipulations on what to say how to say it ----I dont want to be a part of it. I have real weidos come to my place - are 'Out" but are ashamed of what they are- were- etc. I tell (them as you have) I wont allow the filthy swearing, but there is nothing they can say that will shock me. at MY age I have heard it all. ( except about the twisting lol) I guess my back went up at MAN again telling me what I can do. Thank you for saying I have never been offensive -but many on line do not agree with you.... Some are SICK of my relationship with Jesus. & have told me so. But I dont mind I am FREE!!!!!! To think what GRACE wants.... I dont want to have to _ becareful I dont stumble someone.... I believe God knows HIS own. & HE will look out for them/.... WE are NOT the herders, just a family (I thought) of rejected people by an organization... Yes my back is still painful & I am ticked.... Sorry to express MY true feelings... Grace

  Very nice Post JST!!! You express my sentiments. I hoped that such was the puspose of this site, But it is not wish or want or hope, because the founder and host of this Board is the one who has determined the intended purpose of his web site.

  I have no animosity whatosever towards the WT or towards anyone, but I am a lover of truth and facts as I am sure many who come here to read the posts and to view links are. I like to see things objectively. The WT cannot be villified for everythin in my opinion But I have found that as soonn as my views do not line up with WT hatred , posters resort to ad hominin, and when I have responded to such attacks with frankness, I am threatened with insuniations that I will not be able to post my views anymore although no action is taken against posters personally naming and insulting individuals such as memembers of the GB, and although I have been insulted and put up with sarccasm and nonsense attacks by poster with no action agains them,, action is taken against me when I respond to individuals who FIRST resort to ad hominim. These events challenge what you say as to the purpose of this board. Certainly, anyone can express their feelings. But if a person dares to offend and to dish outt then be ready to take it too. That is not the case as posters do dish out also venting animosity unite seeming to allude that they have the web's host backing.and prevent freedom of expression and hence canot take it. If the Wt is right on certain points then so be be it. But if the facts show otherwise, then why be afraid to examine the evidence for yourself and come to your own conclusion. Allow the individual to freely make up up his own mind and to freely express his view. The critical eye that analyses the Wt mag, will also see the deficiency on this board namely that it primarily vents animosity towards the Wt and posters attack individuals that express views which do not line up with such hatred

  THis is a great website in my opinion as it is a valuable and informative expository of the WT, but as you have observed, the timid jw will make up his mind on the spot when he sees hatred posted and not objectivity.

  All argurmenst as to the intended purpose of the is site are moot because it is the web hos tor or his proxy who determnines the policy and purpose of this board and not the posters.

  Just 2 Laws----Steve----I would like to say that you put into beautiful words what Simon should've expressed, a long time ago. Simon, you should add these words or parts of them to the terms of use. Sometimes, people don't understand what appears to be inconsistent boundaries. Your expression makes it simple for anyone to comprehend. btw.....I think Simon has expressed these thoughts in many different threads but the way you put it, makes it even more comprehendible. You deserve a gold star on your forehead.
