Wow! It seems to be mostly central Africa that give a crap about this religion.

I'm a bit late to the threat Slim, but yes, I agree with you. It is a slow collapse, like a deflating balloon.
First and foremost, there is no real community in the religion. Meetings are solely for religious instructions and what little social life existed was gone after the Book study was moved to Kingdom Halls.
so with no real community there's nothing stopping young people from finding friends on social media.

Also, other churches offer heaven as a reward and to enjoy life on Earth whereas JWs teach only a few go to heaven and Armaggedon's just around the corner. After decades of spouting this crap, people are sick and tired of maintaining a perpetual sense of urgency.

Slim dosent think its slow collapse . He thinks its already collapsed, or will collapse any second now.

Brokeback Watchtower
Yes they have so much bad publicity in the news/internet they will never recover from it. The Internet will never let them recover to the good old profitable days of years gone by. They are marked as an organization till they go belly up broke which I think can count as a collapse even if it takes 10 years if the decline is steady till puff! Gone baby!

BROKEBACK:
It’s not just the internet and well-deserved bad publicity.
The religion couldn’t possibly recover to the ‘good old profitable days of years gone by’...The demographic of affluent elderly who held the religion on a reverent pedestal are passing away. These people are almost gone and there is no way that younger struggling people are going to view the religion the way they did.
The religion’s hey day is over and even if it still manages to struggle along, it’s barely a shadow of its former self.

Exactly so brokeback.
WT financial history
1879-1990 - made lots of money from publishing, bought lots of property
1990-2010 - made loss on publishing, spent funds generated during boom
2010-2015 - started selling branches to fund ongoing expenses
2015 - financial crisis hit, drastic measure implemented to remedy situation
2015-present - selling further properties as financial problems deepen
What happens when the assets run out?

Yes, and like a "run on a bank" the tide of confidence can (or may already has) started to irreversibly change. Once people smell trouble, they may donate less, rather than more. All they got from Lett's May 2015 begging/appeal was a one-off spike of $30m - a drop in the ocean...They can only pull that stunt so many times...

Yes they have mostly been careful to always describe the brothers as “generous” in their donations, but on a few occasions their disappointment has slipped through. As you say loss of confidence has a way of accelerating financial problems as people contribute less not more when they sense the organisation is in trouble.
Good Kim and Mikey video. I got the ln the months wrong, it was July and August they got an extra $30 million, not June and July.

slimboyfat - "...loss of confidence has a way of accelerating financial problems as people contribute less not more when they sense the organisation is in trouble..."
Reminds me of this little bit from Sneakers:
Cosmo: "Posit: People think a bank might be financially shaky."
Bishop: "Consequence: People start to withdraw their money."
Cosmo: "Result: Pretty soon it is financially shaky."
Bishop: "Conclusion: You can make banks fail."
