    OrangeBlossom,

No, actually I'm from Lakeland and now live near Tampa. But I know many folks from the Orlando area..is that where you are? I have family in Orlando...they don't talk to me, mind you, but I know they exist...I think they do....

    Muslima,
So glad to hear that you have a family member who practices unconditional love...I have one of those (only 1) but it means the world to me.
    Cheers,
    Dana

    Orangeblossom,

: 5) Benner-ooh, ooh, ooh! Did not care for him at all. From reading another post about him, I understand he was responsible for having Ray Franz df'd

Wesley Benner. He initiated the witch-hunt against Ray, but all the evidence I've seen suggests that he was put up to it by the GB. Someone posted that they sat next to Bert Schroeder at the Bethel breakfast table after Ray was DF'd and Schroeder said the GB had planned to have him be disfellowshiped all along. Even after they couldn't DF him at Bethel and he had left the place.

    : 8) Sinutko (sp) - excellent speaker

Sunutko is the way it is spelled, I believe. Great mesmerizer from the clips of him I've heard on Randy's site. He was one of those DO's who who proved conclusively that the R&F dubs were the ones who made up all the hullabaloo over 1975. Yeah, right. Go to Randy's site and listen to him say, "Stay alive 'til '75. Make do 'til '72." What a dick. What was the R&F to think after hearing a speech where guys like him said stuff like that?

    safe4kids,

: You mentioned Bro. Erskine....I remember a Brother Erskine here in central Florida but I was only a child...around 7 or 8 at the time...I'm wondering if it's possible it's the same guy....I rather liked him but of course I wasn't all that discerning back then

Erskine was serving in the central Los Angeles area when I knew him. You are right. Someone said he was kind to the R&F which I remember to be true. He was an abosolute Nazi when it came to those with positions of responsibility, though. He was also a two-faced hypocrite, and a spineless bastard who wouldn't say what he thought to your face. He would go to the PO and tell him and then after he left would let the PO do all his dirty work for him.

He was also the best magazine and book salesman I ever saw. He had a smooth and pat answer for virtually every objection that was raised. I enjoyed working with him in field service. He was a con man's con man.

Safe, I lived in Orlando a long time ago, we probably know some of the same people. I live on the east coast of Florida now.

Farkel, it's Charles Sinutko. Chuck. Randy Watters misspells his name. Actually lives near you, in a mobile home with a little garden behind it. I'll not name the small town. He believed every word he said.

Used to sing on TV with Tennessee Ernie Ford as a youngster. Wonderful voice.

When I was a kid, Grant Holland was a CO for a time - great speaker, and very caring man. He is now in the Aussie Bethel with his wife Kathy.

Conrad Mack was a compassionate CO too - I got the feeling from him he was really sincere and cared what happened to people in the congs. Heard that he died a few years ago.

Going way back to the 60's now...

Charles Avey...a gem of a man, tall, gray/white hair, radiant smile with big dimples..giving him an appearance any self respecting TV evangilist would be jealous of.

I only have one beef with guy. He was instrumental in convincing me not to play high school football. I had joined the team, started practicing, was really hyped about it all. He pulled me in the library one afternoon...smooth as silk...the next day I resigned from the team. The coach was so upset...(I was 6'4" weighing in at 250# and destined for his star defensive tackel) that he offered to pay me to continue to play. Never will know where that may have gone.

How many lives have been affected by these JW guru's with power. I don't even think they realize the extent of damage they can do.

Interesting thread - made me think for a while. I use to collect cassette tapes of CO's & DO's (over 100.) The tapes and my WT library were my pride and joy. When I first faded away and give all my tapes to my mom she couldn't believe it. Needless to say I loved listening to a good talk. Whenever I would meet a new JW, one of the first questions I would ask is "do you have any tapes on CO's or DO's?" Anyway, some of my favorite speakers were: JR Brown (I think I had all of his tapes - Excellent speaker - He even had a following - I even knew the CO whom they said he copied his style from (I forgot his name); Sinutko (had you on the edge of your seat from start to finish); John Casino (As an Italian bro, someone asked him 'are you Italian?' and he said 'No, I'm a JW. He should have been on TV - very witty and knew how to capture your attention); Ganges (sp) (weird but lovable and interesting); Hakwins (Made an impression on me when I was a child - Always spoke without a mike and looked like Malcolm X); Bro Parks (I loved when he called people 'Stupid', But he was very smart guy. I think he left med school to become a JW.) And of course Dan Sylyck (sp) (I could listen to him all day!) However, the bro that I didn't enjoy listening to was: Cary Barber (zzzzzzzzzzzzz) Now, I could not stomach listening to ANY JW! One time I went to a funeral (the deceased a non-JW) and a JW give the talk, after listening to his first few lines, I had to leave. One thing I've learned from being a JW is - You can use the scripture to justify anything! Interestingly - There is one minister I could listen to anytime - A 'worldly' guy name Michael Eric Dyson. I like him because he might use one scripture and take about politics and african american issues for the rest of the time.
    Peace,
    LL

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but I don't have time to read 5 pages. I do recall one CO, Arlen Meier (sp?) who was a pretty nice guy.
