    Felix:

I screamed at your post! I had forgotten.

In his dreams ... still talked about those days, though. He's really out of his tree today. Quote from his recent DC convention talk: "There was some talk that the end would come in '75. Aren't you glad Jehovah didn't bring it on then?" [dutiful but scant applause]

    Maximus,

While at Bethel I heard Carey mention his motorcycle riding days and the picture of him on bike has never left me...

As for '75, I'll give my dutiful applause for it having come and gone. All I could have wished for knowing now what I was way to young to know then was for my mother to have let it come and go. That was the year of her baptism.

    Maximus (Gedanken?),

(I think I saw mentioned the other day that “Maximus” on this board is the same person as “Gedanken” over on the old H20. If I’m mistaken, please correct me.)

First, I wanted to say thanks to both you and TMS for replying to my inquiry about Grizzle.

Secondly, I wanted to ask you a question with regards to the following statement that you made.

    You had said:

For purposes of the board, my favorite was Carey Barber, whom I served as DO in the days when he was on the road as circuit overseer. His wife Sydney would chauffeur him around in their Volkswagen bus. Always had this silly grin.
Did that come out like you intended for it to? Did you possibly mean to say instead that Barber was the DO and YOU were the CO? If that’s correct, how long did you serve as a CO? If that wasn’t what you meant, I’m bumfuzzled. Please un-bumfuzzle me, would you?

Thought I was clear. I served him as a DO. He was a circuit overseer and no longer a DO. Yep, old enough to be my father, and all that.

I posted as Maximus on the old H20. I am not the erudite Gedanken, whom I miss very much. Farkel was referring to an old post of mine using very accurate Latin slang of Roman soldiers, and Gedanken picked up on it. Never failed to amaze me with his breadth. Extremely well read and wonderfully witty, never flaunted his doctorates and advanced degrees.

Maximus, who still can't get his hair to look like Nick Kovalak's.

I am un-bumfuzzled now. Now I can see that what you said before makes perfectly good sense.

Nicest CO I ever met was Phil Hayworth from Sydney

I have to agree with you. Never been another like him.

On a visit to our congregation in the early 80's, the District Overseer advised in his talk one of the signs of the last days: that people were eating something called cereal for breakfast instead of good healthy food like bacon and eggs.

    G'day Prof,

Those cereal killers will not inherit the Kingdom.
