Presiding Overseer Says They Will Ask If You Still Want To Be A Jehovah's W

This is a serious issue for those of us who do not associate any more but have family in and therefore do not want to end up dissassociated.

I have the elders round at my housing asking similar questions in the past - like "do you still believe it is the truth?" I try to be very vague with my answers. I try to turn round with comments like "we all need to have a personal relationship with God based on the truth of his word the Bible which I believe". I must admit they get a bit confused with answers like that; they quite tell if I am saying I believe what JWs teach or I am simply saying I believe in God.

Do I still want to be an unpaid slave of a multi million dollar company that threatens me with eternal destruction if I don't continue going to sales meetings and selling their books? Now let me see...do I or don't I? That's a very serious question you're asking me there, Brother Super Elder. Is this the same book company that joined the UN and is riding the scarlet beast along with the rest of false religion, that you want to know if I still belong to?

Is this the same book company that changed it's mind in 1995 and decided that those it promised would never die but live forever, will unfortunately now die and NOT live forever?

Is this the same book company that allowed its members to be attacked in Malawi for not having a sort of ID card because they weren't allowed to be involved in politics and yet itself joined the UN?

Is this the same book publishing company that recommends that the finest career for its youngsters is not furthur education but full time book selling and window wiping to support themselves?

Is this the same book publishing company that has covered up for paedophiles by insisting that sex abuse victims provide two eye witnesses to their attacks?

You'll have to give me a little time to think about that? Now do I or don't I? Then, whilst standing in the way of my door I would have to explain about 607 bce, about dear brother Russell and his extensive research that involved measuring a pyramid to get to that strange date. I might have to ask about the date 1975 and ask about all those Watchtower, Awake and Kingdom Ministries that praised the brothers for selling all they had and giving all their time to saving lives before the end was to come...any time now.

Then I might need to ask about why they were trying to escape from my living room like a couple of nervous book salesmen, and explain that there is nothing to fear from the Truth about the Troof.

I'd have to ask politely that they give me time to look into the subject and decide whether I would want to still be known as a JW as it's a very serious decision. They could come back next week and we could compare notes on what we've been able to discover about the history of the WTBTS.

Ah well! We all have our silly little fantasies.

Eyeslice makes the point that some may not want to be disassociated due to family factors.

    Min,

Thanks for the heads up. However, based upon my last conversation with an elder, I do not believe that they have the balls to confront me with such a question. If they do ask the question, they will hear an ear full, from me and my lawyer.

This is why I've been asking on another thread about getting legal options.

They will ask, "Do you still want to be a Jehovah's Witness?"

What if I said in a real sincere, gentle, polite kinda way..........." do you like the taste of pigshit........you dumbass, moronic, braindead, mind controlled, idiotic bastards? Now get the hell off my porch before I sic the 300 pound neighbor lady on your ass with a fly-swatter... ya dickheads"!

    LMAO! Nice, Gumby!

I do understand the difficulty for those with family still in. It's easy for me to tell the WTS to take a flying leap over a bottomless pit because I don't; no close friends still in either. I hope there is a way to slide under the radar for those of you who are trying to avoid being cut off.

I think this maybe a small step towards getting rid of the disfellowshipping practice (?).

The next step would be - 10 years from now - "Is it not so refreshing to know that Jehovah's organization is so compassionate so as to extend mercy even to those who don't want to associate with us any more. God's people may have misapplied some key scriptures in the past, but, even then, that has proved to be to their advantage."

I don't know... "Jehovah's organization" is so clever, so clever, that we don't really know what that will mean a few years down the road.

I don't think they'd introduce changes to the disfellowshipping practice in a single strike.

    Hmmmm.

Maybe I will turn this question around on them and say "the important question here is do you really believe that this is God's organization?

(they will probably then answer "of course")

and then I will say "then why are you asking me?"

Maybe if I continue on in this mode and never give them any answers, but only questions I will frustate them until they go away.

Actually Luna....I'd never say what I said. I be peacable and tell them exactly WHY I choose not to be a witness. I doubt they'll ever ask me.
