But it's not really equal...God NEVER had to "purify" Jesus.

adam's death brought corruption of the flesh too. The flesh became nothing...dust.

Psalm 16:10. Jesus' never saw His flesh become "nothing"...as genetic sons of adam we still see our flesh become nothing. There is inequality between adam and Jesus Christ.

Perfect man Adam - dies, upsets the balance.

Perfect man Jesus - dies, brings back the balance.

    equality.

a perfect life for a perfect life is the entire point. Jesus is later exalted to a superior position... But only AFTER being an equal death to Adams. Those scriptures in Romans agree, as do the Quranic verses. This was the entire point of the Ransom.... His death being equal to Adams is the very reason why his blood buys back all of mankind, becaus adams blood lost all of mankind...

again, I'll let the bible speak for itself that, "just as" adam died and ushered in sin (or in the same way, or equal to), so did Jesus also die as an equal death to balance it out and bring life where adam brought death.

    ROMANS 5...

11 And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--... 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

15 But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. 16 The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgressionresulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arosefrom many transgressions resulting in justification.

The bible doesn't say adam was perfect...it says he was good. If he was perfect he wouldn't have sinned.

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in HIM."  2 cor. 5:21

JD - That is 100% Watchtower nonsense.

Nobody understands Jesus' death in those terms. It is pure Russell/Rutherford.

You have taken Romans 5 out of context.

Russell actually taught that Jesus only died to save Adam alone.

Rutherford later changed it to the "value of Adam's perfect life". It is drivel. NO christian outside the cult ever interpreted Jesus' death in this legalistic way.

No... Again you miss the point. As the Quran says itself, it is meant to be taken with the bible. The bible tells Jesus story, the Quran would not retell it because it was already told... I won't say it again..

"In matters of faith, He has laid down for you people The same commandment that he gave Noah, which we have revealed to you Mohammed and which we enjoined Abraham and Moses and Jesus: 'uphold the faith and do not divide into factions within it'- what do you profit call upon the idolaters to do is hard for them; God chooses whoever he pleases for himself and guides towards himself those who turn to him. [42:13]

"Believers, argue only in the best way with the People of the Book, except with those of them who act unjustly. Say, 'We Believe in what was revealed to us and in what was revealed to you; our God and your God is one and the same; we are devoted to him.'" [29:46]

The people of the book are Christians, and what was revealed to them is the New Testament. The Quran has spoken for itself yet again.

The verbiage is, yes. But the bible is saying what it says pretty clearly there. Adam was the same type of him who was to come- Jesus. Adam died ushering in all sin and death, Jesus died bringing hope and life.. That's what those verses are saying, not me.

I just happen to agree with them.

    dear JD...

    now, this IS interesting...

In the koran it says (there is no indication of whether Allah is relaying the words of the jinn[angels] or whether Allah is speaking for himself. the ones speaking have this to say)
koran 72:1...the jinn hear what is "the koran" and rejoice.

koran 72:10-11...the jinn don't know what God has in store for the earth or whether God even intends to lead them in right conduct...and admit that their "company" take divergent paths.

in the bible God makes it quite clear what His plans are for both the earth and mankind. The only "jinn" that aren't in on the plan are the fallen angels and those they "inspire".

    1 PETER 1:10-12

10 As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, 11 seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things into which angels long to look.
