Let me guess...you've never been stopped, made fun of, or overlooked because of the color of your skin or hair?
I have because I was fat. People still do it, and no one stops them. So at least we have some sort of probable cause against suspected terrorists.

Legally, if any harm comes to this girl she then holds the right to inform the police and the person who steps all over her rights should be brought to answer for his/her actions.
To cower and give up our rights in the face of pressure is like saying that girl shouldn't have the right to drink, wear miniskirts or walk herself home because it may cause someone to rape her.

My children's father is 5ft 11in, has olive skin,dark curly hair (sprinkled with gray) and a beard....he looks like he's from the middle east (when he cuts his hair shorter and shaves his beard he looks like a tanned prince charles, but that's another story), he's French and English........Even though we are divorced, we have upon occassion traveled together several times since 9/2001. More often than not he's watched, checked out and sometimes questioned.....inconvenient yes, upsetting yes, but we'd rather put up with the inconvenience that end up in the rubble of the WTC, as DNA in a field in Pennsylvania, on someones desk at the Pentagon or in the rubble of an underground train in London.
Quite frankly, if the U.S., Canadian and British governments weren't so generous in keeping their borders open, we wouldn't have a lot of these problems.......but then again....we'd be violating their rights!

So you would shave your beard, but what if you had tanned skin and a big hook nose and the clothes you were brought up wearing looked like teatowels? I hope you wouldnt mind being searched everytime you got on and off public transport while white shoebombers were merrily getting on and off with their hidden explosives.

All I maintain is that if a person looks like Osama Bin Laden and he's on MY plane, I will feel much, much better if he is carefully checked out.
Like Osama bin Laden's just gonna hop on a USAirways plane to go to Kalamazoo, MI...What if you saw someone who looked like Adolf Hitler got your plane, would you want him carefully checked out as well? Silly, you say? Not much more silly than seeing bin Laden on a domestic US flight.
Succesful terrorists are gonna look like us and act like us. We'll be the people interveiwed on the 6:00 news saying, "he was a real quiet neighbor...never made a ruckus...always kept his yard clean...I'm shocked that he's involved in anything illegal". Now, over 90% of the population could fit in that category...you want em all searched as much as the guy who had a turban on?

No-one is punishing the girl in the mini skirt. no -one is punishing any other girl. All we are saying is - yes you can do and wear what you like. But if you want to protect yourself - IN REALITY, AND NO YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO, BUT YOU MIGHT WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT, BECAUSE THERE ARE BAD PEOPLE ABOUT - maybe if you wear different clothes and maybe if you walk home earlier , and Maybe if you go home with a friend you might be giving yourself more protection from a bad thing happening.

Don't laugh but I sometimes wonder that if Osama BL came strolling through my building lobby (robes and all) there would be some who would not recognize him. Not everybody really reads the paper and some don't like to watch TV.
