Seems odd he doesn't even try to explain why or how his wife left. Also, I'm not sure what "custom built french country house" means. Is that a type of house or does he live in France?

The meaning and function of makarios were discussed not long ago: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/181630/2/Symbolisms-in-Revelation
This is much less of an issue in French btw., since the traditional/formal translation (bienheureux) equivalent to the English "blessed" carries the meaning "happy" (heureux).
In the usual English rendering, the reader cannot know if the "blessed God" is actually blessed (eulogètos, Luke 1:68 etc.) or pronounced 'happy, fortunate etc.' (makarios, 1 Timothy 1:11). But since the function is approximately the same this is no big deal.

Bonsoir Jacques :)
The only way they could prove that this confidential letter is outdated is by publishing (and authenticating!) later confidential documents explicitly overruling it. I doubt they would go out of their way to do that except in court.
Now if I am right in my assumption that this letter is based on outdated Belgian law (you didn't answer that question), it is quite likely that they have adapted to the current legal setting in the meantime as they did in France, i.e. that report of even alleged child abuse to the secular authorities is now the norm. I understand that WT opposers cannot be expected to point that out, but it was the reporters' responsibility to make sure of the current policy or at least echo the WT statements about it (I don't think they did, but perhaps I missed it).

How much apostate is in each JW ?
by inbetween inrecently i talked to some jw, even so called strong ones in the truth:.
i noticed, they do not believe everything from the wts, for example:.
one older sister, a close relative of mine, she has been pioneering for years, babtizes over 40 years ago, mentioned, that sometimes she wonders about certain teaching, but she can not say anything, because somebody would say, she speaks against jehovah himself..further she said, she remmebers 1975, and that the society tried to blame the brothers, but was clearly responsible itself... i was quit shocked to hear that from her, and i added some careful comments in the same direction.... other brothers do not agree with certain teachings, like resurrected ones will not marry, or animals will not eat each other etc.... maybe those are "minor" issues, but if you doubt one teaching of gods channel, doesnt that mean, you doubt the whole thing ?.

I think a number of JWs allow themselves to question many things in playful or semi-serious "rambling" mode, whether alone or in private conversation. I certainly did, and this was pretty common in informal discussion, especially in (France) Bethel. But then they switch it off and return to the "official" mode which is (apparently) unaffected. At some point I found out I could not return. Maybe I enjoyed the game too much or took it (too?) seriously. But I remember many then who sounded more "potentially apostate" in private than me and are still JWs.

Kittens - Free - to give away
by Jim_TX inanyone want a half-wild (or half-tame - depending on how you look at it) kitten - or four?.
background: we don't have any cats that we call ours - well... there are 6... no ... 7... no 8... well... there's less than a dozen cats that are in the neighborhood that are 'homeless', but hang around for the food that we put out, and we talk to them, and pet the tamer ones.. one cat was a mom recently, and started hanging around.
she would eat all she could - then hi-tail it back to her kittens to feed them.

LOL. Not that I can help, but I'm in the same situation... One came up about this time last year, and she had 4 kittens this spring (note: we had her sterilised after that). Only when people offered to take one, my wife and daughter would not give them away!

Wow. I'm very sorry to read that Jeff. Some people only stop when they are stopped. It's a good thing she was. Focus on the grand-kids and your life but don't lose hope.
Re: BlackSheep, there are always other sides to a story; unfortunately they neither add nor subtract, they are other stories.

Is the "torture stake" dogma a reverse idolatry in itself?
by JWoods inwitnesses have famously (and gleefully) tossed the usual christain "t" cross symbol overboard after having used it themselves for quite some time.
one common arguement is that "if christ had been shot by a rifle, you would not worship the image of the gun" -.
and yet, they do not shy away from insisting on the notion of the upright torture stake.

pjs: it's too bad Bible thumpers (JWs AND others) rarely take the time to read and ponder about the passages they quote... for instance, keyser soze called your attention on the fact that "Timothy" should keep away from, reprove, etc. the "evil" people and especially "false teachers" characteristic of the "last days". Get your mind on that and you'll realise that the text is not speaking of a future situation centuries away...

blaspheming the holy spirit
by yellow ini'm now viewed as an apostate, in a talk i had heard this now means i've blasphemied against the holy spirit and my outcome at judgement day will be worse for me.
this of course is all wt speak.
i know this is totally untrue as i still have a deep reverance for god and the bible, as wt speak says the holy spirit is now removed from me can anyone enlighten me thanks..

1. Seems difficult in the JW system which is "yes/no" rather than "more/less": either you're "destroyed" or you're not.
2. Even the WT refrains from ascribing "blasphemy against the holy spirit" or "unforgivable sin" to individuals (except Bible characters, and they have flip-flopped quite a lot even about that). Of course things don't look too good for you if you're "apostate", but "only Jehovah knows" etc.
3. It's interesting that the context of "blasphemy against the holy spirit" in the Synoptic Gospels is about ascribing to the devil somebody else's (Jesus') actions which their author ascribe to the holy spirit... which is just what the WT has been doing consistently about every other kind of faith and religion.
