OMG They are doing commercials now!?
by flower ini just finished watching martha stewart and after it went off there was a set of commercials before the news came on and i swear i just saw a commercial from the christian congregation of jehovahs' witnesses!.
it was about raising your children with knowledge and love.
it showed a teen girl on the internet in a chat room with a person who had become her best friend and wanted to meet her in person and they said something like if it seems too good to be true it is..'love builds happy familys' was the slogan or something.. .

the society's spiritual iron curtain has broken down.it cannot keep many witnesses from reading books and other publications put out both by ex-jw's and others attacking the society root and branch.nor can it keep witnesses in the industrial world from reading similar information on the internet.. further,there is a suggestion that the society is being undermined by a growing underground movement obtaining information,somestimes from the society's headquarters itself,to aid in exposing its doctrines and activities.. the future for the society does not look bright.. blueblades

Happy Halloween, and I love the pumkins, warm smells of apple cider, and pumkin pie, the look of colorful mums and cabbages in the garden with hay and cornstalks with scarecrows decorating the towns. The adorable faces of the children at the door. I don't miss the scary pictures of beasts with blood dripping from their mouth and churches and buildings burning in the Watchtower publications. Now that is scarey and Satanic

What's happened to the preaching work?
by Dark Knight insomething happened the other night that got me thinking.
i met a christian in one of the local malls and he did the usual preaching about jesus routine, trying to convince me that i am a sinner and how i need jesus and all that jazz.
he wasn't a jw, but rather he was from one of the local revivalist churches.. now what i'm thinking is that i've been out of the org for almost three years now.

My husband was in town stopping at a store and he noticed an elder's wife standing on the corner with another woman. They were taking advantange of a fall festival being held in our town and obviously were out doing streetwork or business territory. When they saw my husband they stared and wispered amongst themelves. Then her husband came and they all got out of there fast. It is really pathetic to watch these people who had always been for dinner at our home and treated so graciously by us, even there son was in our daughter's wedding party, yet to watch them practice the shunning and seemingly enjoying it makes me feel pity for them that they actually believe they are behaving this way in the name of their god.

When is it time to put down a pet?

i've been putting off taking my old dog (14 years old) to the vet because i knew the news wasn't going to be good.
it was even worse than i thought though.

I went through this with our 13 year old Lab 2 weeks ago. Like you we spent the last year of his life back and forth to the vet to buy precious time with him with medications to make him comfortable. During that year we were not ready to part with our beloved friend and family member. But the last few weeks of his life he suffered so much trying to do the things he wanted to do, like just following me up the stairs and around the house but he just couldn't make it up off the floor without help with his back legs. The week we brought him to the vet for the last time he could no longer use even his front legs and we knew his quality of life had become unbearable for him and us. We finally felt it was emotionally easier to help him go than to keep him with us and watch him suffer. We went through this last year with his mother and will probably be facing it soon with our little pug as he is also becoming very helpless and weak. It hurts so much to part with them. My heart is with you.

by jst2laws intoday, october 6, in manchester tennessee the court considered the motion to dismiss petitioned by the watchtower bible and tract society in the case of anderson vs watchtower.
during the hearing for the first time ever the watchtower attorneys were stumped, at a loss for words, silence in the courtroom for what seemed like a 'millennium'.

How do you explain to a jw...
by Gadget inhow do you explain to a jw why you don't believe the jw teachings anymore?
you can explain what you believe and why, but if they're deeply in they can just pass it off as 'needing faith' etc.
so without going into deep deep issues(i prefer the keep it simple, sweetie approach), what points do you use to make jws think about things?
