Where were all you Deep Thinkers when I was in "the truth"--I never heard anyone ask any of these questions. It was like only being in the company of 5th graders.

What gives any being the right to be worshipped?
by dh in.
i'm not sure if i've phrased the question correctly, but what is it that you think gives god or whoever else the right to ask (or demand) the worship of us humans.

Why is it that a JW can't say Happy New Year?
by kls innew-years eve my husband and i went to my sister's house to bring in the new-year.
my sister knowing much about jws cornered my husband and said " happy new-year don" and he replied" yep it's a 2005".
i have been away from the bs of jwism for a long time and for the life of me i can not remember why it is wrong to celebrate a new year.

Dear Sis,
I can promise you there will come a time when you will wonder how you ever felt the fears you're struggling with now, concerning Jehovah, the organization, etc. Just keep following your heart. Everything will start opening up for you and the light really does get brighter and brighter in our individual lives.

Do you remember when you first Googled "Jehovah's Witnesses"?
by Funchback ini remember when i first googled "jehovah's witnesses".
i was sick to my stomach because i feared that i was disobeying jehovah.
although i was scared that i would find something "apostate" or "demonic", i still continued to click on different links.

I know just what you mean. I still fear stuff--like illness, unemployment, etc. but one thing I absolutely do not fear is God or demons. What a freedom that is. Can't even imagine how horrible it is to live with that kind of fear. Thank God for my willingness to explore.

THE GENERATION OF 1914
by Mary init makes you wonder when exactly the governing body and their lawyers decided to change the "generation of 1914" doctrine.
the first quotation below is from the 1992 wt and the second one from the 1993 brochure the purpose of life, just two lousy years before they imfamously dropped the whole idea:
*** w92 5/1 p. 7 the 1914 generation?why significant?

Unfettered,
I know it's a good thing to find the positive-to make lemonade out of lemons and all that, but have you any idea of all the harm they have caused? I don't know why I have such a problem everytime I hear anyone who's been one of them and seen the dangerous cult that they are say that they have some redeaming qualities. With that said--I realilze I'm the one with the problem because I seriously hate them since---well, I won't go there at this time. Maybe admitting this will help me get over these negitive feelings.

It feels like my first Christmas!
by Sassy inmany of you have read my posts this past year and know i've felt somehow disapointed in the holidays.
the idea of the magical euphoroic feeling i expected always seemed to be missing.
the last thread i wrote on holidays, many of you gave me a lot of food for thought regarding the holidays becoming more real when i start creating my own traditions, so they become special to me.

I am so happy for you, Sassy. I remember my first Christmas---I overdid it by starting the xmas songs in October. I just couln't wait. I had stopped celebrating when I was only 15 and it broke my mother's heart. So I celebrated big time with her-some 20 years later. That was about 17 years ago. I love it every year, but nothing will ever compare to that first Christmas after so long. That exerberence, completely alive feeling. Can't express it in words.

The Top 3 Things A Witness Can Never Understand

"What was I thinking" is something I ask myself a lot since I've awakened to all that you mentioned above. So great to know that others came to the same conclusions as I did. Back 17 years ago, when I left, I felt there was no one-anywhere- who could relate to what I was feeling and thinking. "Worldly people" didn't and sure wasen't many JW's leaving around where I lived--too scary for most, and no websites that I knew of. So, I'm just filled with appreciation for the thoughts, comments, wisdom I'm getting since I've found this site. Thank you. You are right on in your comments.

Who do you Worship now?
by Dmac injesus?, a "saint"?
one of the many pagan gods?
or satan himself?.
-
Namasti
Dmac,
LIke to know more about this "God of Good Luck" Seems like you had a good thing going there. Hey, what are you doing spending time on this site anyway? Shouldn't you be out door-to-dooring, or study your Watchtower, or going to the KH. If the elders knew you were fraternizing with us "apostates" you might be looking at a committee meeting or be used as an good example of a bad, bad example of what not to do--from the KM platform and all.

Positive about jw
by one inthere are many thing i dont regret about jw
learning from jw about cristmas is one of them
the jw were very open about cristmas, going against the "system" require some strenght and that in itself attracted many to the jw org.

Yes, I agree. I guess I just don't like giving JW's credit for anything because they have caused so much hurt overall. Great to be in this site with such open-minded and deep thinkers. Thanks
