I can't figure out why they never wanted to make me an MS or an elder. I conduct a great WT study.

the reason i heard constantly by the elders, as to ones spiritual progress in the organisation was, .
"brothers are appointed by holy spirit.".
if this is the case, why is god speaking to himself when he says in 1 tim 3 v 6 .not a newly converted man, for fear that he might get puffed up with prideetc.. to re-iterate if god appoints elders, why would he give himself this advice ???.

i recently wrote a letter expounding the flaws of the watchtower regarding their sexual abuse of children scandals, being in the united nations, having been started by a freemason (with proofs) and while i didn't write it as an "why i don't want to be a member anymore letter" no one would confuse it as a love letter either.
i don't answer to the watchtower's agents and they don't answer to me.. what is seemingly happening is that i have been followed since the letter was mailed to 4 ex-congregations i went to for long periods of time including the one i attended with my jw ex-wife.
i believe that i might now be getting stalked.
Yes!
I was stalked by elders in the Willoughby Congregation in Langley BC
My CRAZY second husband had them believing that I was having an affair with my disfellowshipped first husband when he came by to pick up the kids for his visitation. On at least 3 occasions, I saw them sitting in a car watching my house, I think to see if it was true. It always seemed to happen during a scheduled access time. It was completely UNTRUE!!!
My CRAZY second husband (who I married for all the wrong JW reasons) has now served a 30-day sentence and 1 year probation for threatening and harassing myself and my family. The j-dubs still appear to be on his side.
IDIOTS!! Jehovah's really flowin' that holy spirit on them that they have to resort those kind of measures to get their "proof."

the dark?
walking around knocking on peoples doors and telling them they are going to die if they do not follow our beliefs?.
i for one feel like this is the new world, and there is just no stopping this super highway we call the internet... it is like a whole new world, we can now talk and meet people around the world.
considered just another XJW who still believed it was the truth
This would be the case with me if it wasn't for the internet.
I've been on the internet since 1996. I was df'd in 2002. I googled JW's in 2005 at a time when I was considering a return to the org. What I learned amazed me! Every gut feeling I ever had was validated.
COC was instrumental as well, but interestingly, it was given to me as a gift by someone who comes into my office who has never been a JW.

i know it has been talked about before, but does anyone have information as to when jw started banning beards.
my wife is telling me that it started in the 60/70's because of the hippies, but i know i read somewhere on here that it was much earlier.. .
Sam87...I'm from Canada and I can't recall any elders with a beard in my lifetime.

parenting is one of the most difficult yet rewarding things there is.
doesn't every parent want their children to have a good moral compass, to have good manners, to be socially adept, to be compassionate, to reach their potential and even overachieve in terms of school and career, to appreciate and understand history, science, the arts and the world as a whole, to play team sports when they are younger so they can benefit from physical activity and the comraderie of a team sport, and above all to be a critical thinkers who are strong and independent so that they will not become easy prey to abusive organizations and/or abusive people?.
as a parent i have many times felt like a real failure and at other times like i am actually helping them to reach their potential.. what do you feel that you have done right in raising well rounded and balanced kids?
As a single mom of 6, I took every parenting class I could get my hands on. I was raised in a strict JW family where corporal punishment was the norm. I had to learn to parent my kids.
My 1st child is in UBC in her 2nd year taking her BSN (Bachelors of Science in Nursing). She also works at Save-On-Foods (for you fellow BC people) and rents my basement suite with some friends of hers. My 2nd daughter will be 18 in January and is in grade 12 and working at Zellers (for you fellow canucks out there) and is a honour student. My 3rd daughter works at Save-On-Foods also, 15, and an honour student. My son is 14, has been getting up EVERY morning for the past 6 years to deliver papers. He's also an honour student. My 5th (13 years old) and 6th (9 years old) are still works in progress.
I think the best thing I did was be consistent and not be afraid to discipline. By discipline I mean setting consequences and letting them learn from their own mistakes. I've not been one to physically discipline my children. I think it's ineffective.
My parenting "bibles" are Jane Nelson's book "Positive Parenting" and (I can't remember the author) "Raising Self Reliant Children in a Self Indulgent World."
Getting them out of JW's was a beneficial move. In spite of leaving they are not immoral and not on drugs, as many in the hall predicted would happen to my kids if I left. My kids thank me for leaving. Have a sense of humor. Don't sweat the small stuff. Don't be afraid to say "no." People before things...Those are my recommendations.

... from a male prostitute who gives great backrubs, and suddenly you're not qualified to represent jesus and the so-called conservative party anymore.
where is the love?
You all sound like a bunch of Jehovah's Witnesses to me. And I'm not kidding.
I disagree. To me it's not about the actions he's been accused of doing. It's that, if true, he preaches one thing and does another.
Blatant hypocrisy.
To me, it's like the elder who sexually abused me as a kid, getting up on the platform saying sexual immorality is wrong. (And yes...he did that.) What do the Jehovah's Witnesses do? They hide and cover-up and allow this guy to stand on the platform and allow him say such things with NO repercussions because it's my word against his.
There's something to be said about this level of dishonesty, and to me seeing him get what's coming to him for this hipocrisy is due and appropriate (if true).

i raise the question because mine did - until thursday that is.
a routine follow up review appointment was my opportunity to place a 'living will" in my records .
the doctor said "you are a jehovahs witness aren't you" .
I had the "jehovah's witness" label removed from my medical records about 1 1/2 years ago.

okay, not so much murder, but yesterday i did kill a deer.
i was driving my 18 wheeler thru tennessee.
it was around 5 in the morning.
(removed)
WTF!!! What's that all about!?!
Anyways...
Don't feel bad. I killed one too. I still feel like a murderer sometimes too. She ran onto the road and into ME on the driver's side and rolled all the way down the side of the van. I can still see her terrified eyes looking at me as I hit her.
However, she got her revenge...$2800 damage to my minivan!

i was just wondering, how many dfed to we have on here compared to da or faders??
?
Born in, 3rd generation. Baptized 1982. Realized something wasn't right with the org around 1997. DF'd in 2002 (I think...I kind of told them to go ahead and do it and refused to meet with them.)
Miss my family. (edited to add) ...but have my 6 kids.
