jw, you still have not ever answered anyone outright truthfully (without evading the question, which is a jw tactic)...are you a dedicated and baptized witness or Jehovah? you completely ignored my earlier questions and comments which further leads me to believe you are a fraud especially with comments like...meeting attendance, family comes first also the 1914 date you stated the WTS made a mistake...well if you were a dub you would know they still teach that this is the year Jesus was enthroned, they do not say it was a mistake nor do they EVER admit to mistakes

Anyone know about 'cutting'?
by love2Bworldly ini am researching cutting and self-mutilation because i have a close family member who is doing this--she burned her arm last week and it's bad.
i was wondering--i found an article on the internet that talks about support for the person and how some people get relief by using other methods like icing the skin with ice cubs or flicking themselves with rubber bands.. this person is in therapy and in the care of a psyciatrist too but i just wondered how common this is.
her diagnosis isn't even for sure--could be adhd or depression.. any comments on experience with this would be helpful.

I also used to cut and like sirona it was because I felt so much pain on the inside but it never seemed validated because no one else could "see" how much I was hurting. Maybe it was also to validate the pain for myself too. All I know is I always felt better when I would see the blood, like it was a physical representation for the emotional pain. I would suggest talking to the person and letting them know you are there for them. That they can always talk to you without fear of judgement and be very careful of what you say. The most innocent comment can sound to a depressed person as if you are minimizing what they are going through or judging them, because they spend all their time telling themselves that no one cares. And most of all really listen to them.

Im annoyed about this
by jambon1 inhaving been out of the org for a while now i have come to realise that when you think about certain viewpoints/activities of jw`s, it can really make you annoyed/upset/angry/laugh etc etc.
one thing that is pissing me off right now and has done for a while, is their attitude towards 'the worlds selfish pursuits'.
how often did you hear that those who seek an education to get a good job are 'seeking glory for themselves' and are doing the wrong thing.

This is such a great topic. I totally agree with this. I used to sit at meetings all the time when they would down charity and think what in the world could be "wrong" with helping people. As for donating to battered womens shelter. Way to go! Most of the reason I left the org. is because I got absolutely zero help from them in that area. Then I began going to support group at a shelter and it totally woke me up to being controlled not only by my husband but also by the org. BTW I never mentioned at the support group that i was a dub, because of embarrassment. How could I knock on doors claiming to be able to teach people what could make them happy when I supposedly knew the answer and yet was so miserable in my whole life. Also my depression mysteriously lifted when leaving the troof. Funny how that happens.

You know I find it funny when it comes to something like doing their civic duty and serving on a jury the dubs love to use the bible in their defense quoting how we are not to judge others yet they judge each other constantly. As it was mentioned even when you are "in" you are in danger of being "marked" as "bad association".

How Were You Treated By The Elders?
by minimus ingenerally, were you treated with respect, kindness and empathy or did the elders treat you badly?
?
-
nomoreTRUTHplz
I was treated like both fleur and flag, when i went for help with abusive mate i was told the same thing, "be better wife and pray more. also remember it is only for a short time." yeah like in 1975??? they have no idea how long i would have had to put up with abuse, maybe till he killed me in a rage, but the only important thing to them was dont miss meetings no matter what your going through. now that i havent been back in over a year?? not one single visit from elders. the C.O. visit was just a few months ago, didnt even hear from them then. oh well like it was said before, dont really wanna have to argue with them anyway.

Girls help!!! What signs when a woman is interested in a guy?
by Spectrum ingenerally i find that if a girl is interested in me she makes it quite obvious by her actions and words.
i'm fine with this.
however there are times when a i really can't tell and this is the problem i'm grappling with at the moment.

I agree with gabriella if you felt she showed interest at first then got jealous when you talked about other girls could be she felt you weren't interested and in that case would be pulling back to protect herself

Feel like a failure
by love2Bworldly ini feel like an emotional wreck right now.
i am on my way to a third divorce.
i can't put up with my spouse for much longer, he's so dysfunctional.

I love what lady lee said about how failure to love was already breaking the vows. The abuse from my husband and witnesses responses to it and thinking the only reason for divorce is fornication is what lead to my doubts initially. I felt that no loving god could possibly expect my children and i to live with a man who called us names, intimidated us, physically abused me, and would drive recklessly with us in the car, so on and so on. Since leaving him he did commit adultery however I forgave this of my own free will, not because of guilt or pressure from them. It feels good to do something because I wanted to not because I was told to. In my experience after leaving him, I have learned that I can take care of myself without a man which leads me to love and respect myself. Once we respect ourselves we will accept no less from those we allow in our lives. I have also learned that it was easy for me to stay and blame him for any problems in my life. I do not know your whole story but you said you are codependent and that you cared for your family, this is probably where that stems from. I went to the library and checked out several books about this, maybe that would be of some help to you. It made me realize us codependents CHOOSE people we feel need us to fix them. We do this because without someone in our lives to fix we have to take a look at ourselves and where WE need to improve. I realize this was my problem and why I also hate to be alone, perhaps that is also your fear of being alone. You are certainly not a failure you are human and have issues as we all do. As the others said be proud of your children and the fact that you have done well in that area and accept that in your heart. Then look at other areas where you have strength, we all have them we are just the last to see the good in ourselves. I am sorry you are going through such a tough time, but for me leaving my husband was the best thing I could have done for myself to grow as a person. Try looking at it in a positive light as a chance for you to get to know yourself again or maybe find yourself for the first time. Good luck in all you do. I hope the best for you and your children.

Gov announced new US emblem
by plmkrzy inhttp://www.jehovahs-witness.com/file/a9a292fd-4ab7-41fc-ac25-c67482597f9d/thumb.ashx .
the government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an eagle to a condom because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance.
a condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed.

Do you still refer to God as Jehovah?
by nomoreTRUTHplz ini am curious if anyone still calls their god jehovah.
when i think of jehovah all i can think of is what they taught me.
it was true at first i felt a much more personal and stronger relationship with god when giving him a name, however certain things they taught forced me to see him as a cold and unloving god.

Thanks for the link jwfacts. After reading this I am also going to adress god as father. It is true that I would never call my parents by their first names out of respect. Also since the true pronunciation is unknown and Jesus did not even use god's name there is certainly no reason it would be a basis for my salvation. I am sickened by the fact that the WTBS felt they could add this name where they see fit...Rev.22:18,19 maybe THEY should read the bible once in awhile
