Sounds like they see a clearing out of the congregations. Good. Good.

Thank you Changling for the update..on the Utube video Ray looked great..wish I knew German,,seems they had a good televised coverage there,,,so nice you got to talk with Cynthia,,she is such a dear,,I worked with her in housekeeping at Bethel in early 70s,,she was of the humblest, open hearted gals there,,the other GB wives were more aloof on a personal level. Ray Franz was certainly of the more humble of the GB,,but his text week was always more stimulating, as most of the GB comments were just repetitious of the existing literature that we already studied anyway. I am glad Ray is able to be out and about, he's about 82 now I think.

I need some serious informational help from EVERYONE!
by Thedirtysecret ini am new here and i joined honestly to collect information to understand something a little better.
my boyfriend, well-now kinda boyfriend (were at a weird place) is a jehovah's witness and i am not.
he waited a little "far" into our relationship to tell me he was, which created a mess, honestly an emotional dyfunctional mess.

Welcome! You can learn more here about JWs than your boyfriend knows. Ironically, I had seen many times where a fellow was raised JW but later became inactive,,found a girlfriend or married, got her into JWs, then he ended up leaving the JWs again & his girlfriend or wife. If people are comfortable with leading a double life to the extent of using people, beware. You speak of loving him anyway. JWs are not taught 'unconditional' love. Please consider that he is using you. Test him. Can you get him to go online here or to read some literature that reveals the true facts of JWs. You have your child's future at stake here.

Are more men or women pulling up their tent pins?
by TooBad TooSad inis is just me or am i wrong?
it appears that there are more men than women who are.
realizing the truth about "the truth" and are leaving the organization either by "the fade".

The percentage of men would be higher in leaving, I think. If women have family there, they would linger longer. Tho nowadays the younger gals are getting more educated and independent in a good way.

If you do go, will you be able to get 'off the record' gossip goings on. Like increasing/decreasing there? Any response to the pedofile lawsuits? Questions on blood factions reality?

FOR THE JW CHILDREN
by journey-on ini was thinking about how difficult it was for me growing up a witness.
the constant pull between two worlds has got.
to do some kind of number on your personality.

I felt that! A tear, a wrenched tug of my heart yet even. And now I'm a grandma. But thankfully, all my children and grandchildren are "free."

-How did you envision the FDS and GB did their work?
by Awakened07 inthe weird thing is - i almost can't recall what i once believed about the fds and gb ["faithful and discreet slave" and "governing body"], who they in fact were, and how they came to their conclusions and 'revelations'.. come to think of it, i think that was because i was conditioned to not ever question them, because to question them would be to question the organization, and to question the organization was to question jesus and jehovah.. but i've been trying to 'dig into' my brain to see if i can remember how i as an active jw saw them:.
- i believed them to be inspired, just not in the same 'degree' (?
) as the biblical writers were.

I thought they all read the Bible all day & prayed. After going to Bethel it became clear most of their jobs/time were administrative, treasury or factory related. Then, in early 70's, they started to get together a couple hours on Wednesdays (for further info read Ray Franz' book). They took turns weekly to conduct 'morning text.' Most only repeated existing literature that we already had read/studied (could hardly wait for the coffee).

Were The Elderly & Infirm Truly Given Assistance In Your Hall?
by minimus inour congregation had a number of elderly ones who regularly complained that no one ever helped them.
since the elders didn't really want to be responsible for them, they decreed that the family should help out first.
fair enough.
-
Gayle
There may be individual members who may volunteer in helping ill or the elderly in their congregation. But at the organization level there is no format. The GB do not relate to the need. The GB along with other associate elderly have their own doctor, housing and meals provided and Bethel drivers on staff. The GB have overburdened their people to absolutely go to 5 meetings/wk and door to door/wkly, plus to study/prepare for meetings, up to 10-15+ hrs/wk minimum = 40+ hrs/ month. When the ones with families and real jobs, there is hardly time/energy for the real needs.

Your votes will decide: Farewell party for loyal dub VS. Ex-JW meetup
by OnTheWayOut ini am leaving this up to jwd votes.
please don't just attack the dubs and .
vote the other way because of personal feelings.

Gayle
I encourage ones to 'fade' if they can especially when they have wife/husband still there & other relatives,,tho I realize it would challenging, not easy at all. Compromise if part of a relationship at times. This is just to a party, not something asking your devotion after all. I now remember a wonderful likeable man years ago,,he had been a Bethelite even, then inactive. nice guy,,wife was always clear how nice he was, large JW families on both sides. That was confusing to us, we suspected something was bothering him, of course, we just always had hope he would be activated again. Well, just go confuse the heck out of 'em.
