  Feeling lost and alone

  i have come to the realization that ultimately, even if we have a support system, we end up in the final analysis facing all of our challenges alone.

  god and/or our spirit guides and angels may be there, but how would most of us know?

  few are the ones who experience direct contact with the spirit realm.

  I think you are being too hard on yourself Harry. Yes we as adults all have to make and live with our own choices. But you are wrong to suggest that 'the borg is not to blame' for the path your life has taken. Leaving after so many years in the borg has made many of us unable to make good decisions in life. Many have been unable to make ANY decisions and are stuck in a familiar miserable life. Making decisions is scary for someone who was never given the opportunity. Thinking logically is something all new to us. So we make bad choices and have to live with them. Yes the borg is to blame.

  You said "and put myself in a position of virtually no freedom, with what sure looks like little hope of ever realizing my true dreams."

  As long as you are free from the borg ANY dream you have can come true. The best thing you can do is believe the sky is the limit. I know you feel old and the daily grind gets in the way of progress but I still believe anything is possible. I believe God wants us to be happy after all those miserable years and he knows what will make us happiest and will make a way for us to achieve it. We just need to be keep trying and keep looking so we dont miss opportunities when they come along.

  Youve got the right idea to dream it and then setting goals to put it into action..even if it does take years you will be happier then and now. thats the hardest part for me too. i am frustrated at the fact that i want to do things but am so limited financially that it may take 10 years for me to realize my dream of graduating from college.

  You arent stupid Harry, you were just a dub for a long long time and that makes us a little.....well, wierd :)

  Why are people so determined to be miserable?

  as i was reading through a few of yk's words of wisdom, i found myself wondering about that very question.

  how often have you heard these statements given by christians in particular (and sorry to pick on you guys, but it's the easiest example):.

  "when i get to heaven....".

  Do you really hear a lot of those things from Christians? Because to me it sounds like dub-talk. I have met and come to know and heard stories and talks from Christians and I dont hear that kind of talk coming from them. They are enthusiastic about life..here and now. Yes they believe that all man are sinners and that they have a heavenly hope after dying but at the same time they believe that this world is a wonderful place with caring, loving people in it. I know christians who enjoy life to the fullests and love many things about this world.

  I truly wish everyone would stop stereotyping groups of people. I have been guilty of it too so I'm not exempt. But we need to work on this because everyone is an individual. I dont think its fair to even say the 'majority' of any particular group acts a certain way out of respect for the ones that dont. Its one thing to be talking about JW's or Mormons or other small cult like groups but its so hard to make general statements about a group as broad as christians or athiests ect. There is just too much room for various ideas and beleifs within that title to be lumping them all together.

  What I missed being a JW

  i got to thinking the other day about things that i missed out on being a jw growing up.

  not going to collage comes to mind as does dating more extensively.. the thing i look back on with the most regret though, is my lack of deep friendships.

  going to high school i had worldly friends of course, but i never let myself get too close to them.

  I have similar feelings when I look through my high school yearbook (very rarely). I get very upset at how I was cheated out of a normal life. I mean there are so many clubs and committees, sports, and activities that I never even knew about because I went home every day after school. The yearbook has pictures of smiling happy kids decked out in school colors celebrating school spirit. Or cheering on a football game, building floats or just marching in a band. Just normal kid stuff. Things that make kids enjoy life and things that make them happy. Its so cruel and unfair that that was taken from us.

  Not just those things but more importantly, like you mentioned, the friendship. Thats all I ever prayed to Jehovah for as a kid. Everyone else had friends but me. Not even at the hall. Not really. Having a group of friends that call you on the phone and ask if you want to go out for pizza. Or having someone to eat lunch or study with. Someone that is also going through the changes every teen goes through and that you can talk to about things with understanding. Everyone in school it seemed knew each other or knew a lot of the other kids. I knew mostly everyone since we all grew up together in a small town. I went to kindergarten with some of the people i went to high school with. But I knew them by name and face only. I never was allowed to get close enough to know them or let them know me. When I used to say that I wanted to be normal therapists and other people used to ask 'well what is normal anyway..nobody is really normal'. This to me is normal. Friendship is normal.

  Now a lot of us have to learn as adults how to be friends with people and its not easy. They dont understand where I come from so they arent patient with me as I develop social skills.

  We do have to be careful that we dont allow the thoughts of all the stuff we missed out on overwhelm us also. I am angry but I am working through that and trying to focus on how much I still can do in my life. I'm not going to miss out on anything else that I want to do. And I'm not going to allow my son to miss out on anything either. Got to move on or they still have control.

  Kaiser Permanente

  I've heard bad things about Kaiser from a few friends of mine who were denied medically necessary surgeries for minor technical reasons. A couple fought and won on appeal another had to pay thousands out of her own pocket for her surgery and then fought and won back the money. Thats all I know about them.

  were there talking about various things mostly related to our shared watchtower experiences and our waitress walks up behind me and taps me on my shoulder and asks if i'm a witness.

  HAhaha! you are too funny Bod! I love the 'Kuffar Ministry' entry...too funny. When I used to go in service I was bad and hardly ever prepared a presentation. I would read the inside cover of the mag after my intoduction and as they say 'let the magazines place themselves'. Think that would work with C of C? lol.

  Sorry you had to wait so long, next time we'll get that straightened out with the restaurant ahead of time. That place was packed last night..glad we made reservations anyway cause we may have been waiting all night for a table.

  Nice meeting you and look forward to talking with you a bit more the next time.

  I survived!!!

  i am finally able to get out of my bed.

  the flu sucks and i wouldnt wish for anyone to go thru what i just went thru this whole last week.. 102 fever that just would not go away.

  the chills suck too; can't get comfortable.
