48Dealing with elders during my mom's surgery
by noni1974 inmy mother has been working forwell over a year to have a gastric bypass and she finally got the ok from her doctor and insurance.
the date is set for this coming friday.
although, i'm not 100% sure this will happen because she was diagnosed with pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung this past week.

i have been faded for a number of years, and after much research, know that the witnesses do not have the truth.

Received a very heart felt phone call tonite over the Df Watchtower article
by troubled mind intonight one of my sons called me just to say ," mom i love you !
" .. he told me that this weekend he had read a thread posted by kyria about the new watchtower on shunning df'd relatives ,and that it had really made him sad .
he said, " mom, i am so glad we are all out of the jehovah's witnesses ....i just don't think i could of stood it to think you guys not talking to me ...it really upsets me .

Throwing this out there...
by NY23brown indo jehovah's witnesses tend to contact family members no longer associated with the religion, especially around holidays, and try to get them to "come back"?
i'm married (never been a jw) and husband hasn't been a part of that religion since his teens (he's now 39).
i've written here before regarding my in-laws sending people to our house from kingdom hall, etc.

If he has been out for 20 years and votes and calls them a cult, he knows what they are like. Another way to go about things is maybe respecting their (your MIL and FIL) view. But show or ask your husband that they should respect your view also. Then they will seem like the bad guys and not you. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope it goes well for you and your family.

The Control is simply amazing
by outsmartthesystem inat the kind advice of so many of you (and hassan) on this board....i ceased attempting to discuss doctrine/failures with my wife many months ago.
but unfortunately that does not prevent her from grilling me from time to time.
during one of our infamous "discussions" she said she was going to "investigate" this supposed "proof" that is out there regarding 587bc.

Some one showed me a scripture the other day and I nearly fell over and I had to read it 2 or 3 times to see if it really says what is written. Its Hebrews 11:13-16. Look it up and see where the faithful ones of old were looking forward too!!!!!!!!!!

that thread was about someone who had an attorney mail notice to their local congregation that they had terminated membership.

The only info I could find regarding xenophon and the 2011 conference..
by The Quiet One insomeone i'm in contact with who works with a religion news website is interested in the conference, since i emailed them with a link to the australian newspaper article posted here.
they are wondering what conference this is referring to.. i can't open pdf's on my phone, so i need your help!
after an intensive internet search, these were the only documents i could find.. can anyone tell me what they say etc.
