That is such a disturbing and destructive mentality.
Someone posted assembly notes that mentioned a talk that said something to the effect "How can you even possibly enjoy this life - this isnt the real life."
I am so tired of that mentality - I enjoy my gift of life everyday!!! I am going to live the HELL out of this life, and I am not going to look back on the time I spent peddling WT's with an underlying sense of guilt and fear and regret. The past is the past, and its time to move on. I am going to read books, study things I held off on because it was "worldly", enjoy the ride and enjoy THIS REAL LIFE

what else could they get away with?
by highdose inhaving explained/pointed out the doctrinal flip flops to some jw's i know i was astonished to find that they just brushed it all aside, on one occasion they seemed to just tune me out and quit listening.
the gb really do have them whipped, it makes me wonder what it would take for them to sit up and realise what a insane religon they are in?!
and in the meantime how much can the gb get away with because of the blind faith of their followers?

There are a lot of total die-hards who hang on every word like its from God's mouth.
I believe there are many who would go the route of Jim Jones' followers and "drink the kool aid" if the GB said to.
Why would so many people I know have lasted through 1975 and STILL remained?
I know of a few old men who are still window washers who had lost it all due to those boneheads in 75 and still stayed totally "faithful"
I agree with OTWO - they could go after the internet big time. It has to be the biggest fear - people who get disillusioned have a wealth of knowledge on the internet that is so damning to the WTBTS...............
Other things they could "ban" or strongly suggest against:
1) Sports - they already have boxing, skydiving, etc....why not add more? They could point out the "violence" and "win at all costs" mentality, the "patriotism" of the World Cup and Olympics, etc......
2) Movies - They already have the unwritten "R" rated rule for the USA, why not tighten that up?
Its all about control - how far do they want to push the envelope?

I told my wife recently "When proceedure, protocol, and politics replace love, mercy, and justice then I am forced to examine why I am doing this. I always told myself if the organization put itself about Jah and JC, then I didnt want to be a part of it."
(Of course the organization has done this all along, i just finally figured it out and saw it clearly)

I went to the local library last night with my wife.
I am trying to follow the advice here and be very discreet with my fade. As she browsed over to the Fiction section, I ran over to the religious section.
I am in the middle of reading Crisis of Conscience on PDF right now, and sure enough our local library has "In Search of Christian Freedom" in the catalog. I read about 5 minutes worth and now I CANT WAIT to read it. As my wife started to venture my way, I bolted back to the history section and found a book on Assyrian History - Yep, there it was 587 BCE....didnt dare bring that up!
COC is wonderful in itself, its nice showing what a Soviet-style Cult-Of-Personality farce the organization is, but it looks like Ray really takes the gloves off in "In Search Of" and hammers them about the BS doctrines and the dogmatic stance of Big Brother.
I was not yet 10 years old, but I vividly remember the events of 1980 and ALWAYS had questions about them, even at that young age. I might have been a young kid, but I know a witch hunt when i see one!

facebook, my space and other similar sites are "worldly" and to be avoided.. before you know, nearly everything will be considered unacceptable for a christian witness of jehovah.
let's have fun and go to extremes...what else will be a no-no?.

It is well known that Gerrit Losch hates sports like American Football.
I told the story on here previously of an elders school I went to where Brother OASCH (fitting that his name rhymes with the Austrian slang for ASS) went OFF on sports in general, particularly Football. You would have thought you were the dirtiest piece of trash on the earth for watching american football. We all LAUGHED on the way home and said "If he tries to ban brothers from watching football, you might as well close the KH's in the area." Its funny, people would hang on his every word on the blood issue, sacrificing your life for Big Brother, etc..........but if you take away their sports, they would tell him to go F himself
I found him to be the most self-righteous, pompous GB member I have ever heard speak. Did he train under the Fuehrer???
