Anyone here thinking of seperating or other major life change?

right now i am in a bit of a turning point in my world and was wondering if anyone else is there or had been there and would like to chit chat.

i guess i am feeling that if these difficult decision and transitions are shared with others that understand they might be a bit easier to live through.

E400 -- Thank you for posting, and welcome to the forum.

Twenty-years ago I was going through and doing many of the things you're doing. There were times when I didn't know the person looking back at me while shaving in the morning, and I was older than most students sitting in the college classroom. Like you, I had a plan and it took me through each day. I really think that experience has made me a better person today. I'm sure it will for you, too.

My very best to you on the journey. Many on this forum have been there and done that--you're with a community of understanding friends on the forum

Do you still refer to God as Jehovah?

i am curious if anyone still calls their god jehovah.

when i think of jehovah all i can think of is what they taught me.

it was true at first i felt a much more personal and stronger relationship with god when giving him a name, however certain things they taught forced me to see him as a cold and unloving god.

I now believe in that which can be seen or proven. That doesn't mean if I can't see or prove it that it doesn't exist--but until God is a proven fact I'm not going to buy the idea. I don't refer to God as Jehovah or anyother name at this point. I refer to God as an idea others desperately want to believe in without facts to justify the idea.
I don't believe there is anything wrong in hoping there is a God, but when it becomes a religion, sect or cult, people view the topic with blinders.

well its finally time i cast away all remaining reluctance from my jw days.

most everyone i have met in person knows me, but this is only the 2nd time ive ever come forward with my identity on an xjw board, and frankly im at a point in my life where i no longer could give a rat's rear end if anyone finds out.

im an open opposer of the wt society and everything it stands for.. darin willis is my brother and moncie (monica) is my mom.

It's never easy moving from one setting to another, even if it's the best for one or both in a relationship. I'm sorry the marriage didn't work out. Many of us have experienced the hardship of a marriage breaking up and moving on. My best to both of you.

I posted a few pictures of our Dayton Meet-Up on that thread, if any are interested. David liked the WT-Funny Money that was passed out, and I'll post that picture here.

she found an envelope with my name and "personal & confidential" typed on it taped to the door of our apartment.

i asked her to open it and read it, and evidently there is some evidence of apostacy that they want to review with me this saturday (4-21-06) at 7:30 pm.. the funny thing is that i have not been to a meeting since 1993, the last time i was at a circuit assembly or district convention was 1995!

i know that i have been spotted going to my church (3 blocks from the king-dumb hell).

I agree! However, if you go, tell them legal counsel will be attending with you. Then say, "what time is that meeting again, who is bringing the charges, and the names of the elders would be helpful?"

well, i have been sorting through thousands of files i have collected over the last 10 years about jws and the wts.

it is going to take a while but eventually elsewhere will get them.

but every now and then i will post something that i had no idea i had.. like this little gem.. it was very common for the media to be in attendance at the dcs.

Thanks for posting this article, Lady Lee. I was in the JW-fog in 1969--this brings back many memories. Still shaking my head after all of these years . . .

i was listening to a testimonial by valerie acuff and she said that she was sitting in an assembly, looking around at the crowd and thinking to herself, "this is your family, these are your people.".

she said at that moment she heard a voice inside say, "these are not your people, this is not your family, get up and leave now, and don't ever go back.

" so she took her two children at that very moment and left, and she never went back.

The light came on for me over 20-years ago while at the Kingdom Hall during a meeting. I had not been in contact with ex-JWs or read material by them. For various reasons it hit me that this was nothing more than a man-made religion, and I was wasting valuable time at required meetings. Afterwards I attended a district assembly and the JW-blinders fell totally off—none of it made sense!

Yeah, I saw this when it was first posted, and I’m glad you brought it up again. The figure of 26.7 years of effort per JW to bring in a new JW is staggering if one really looks at it. As already pointed out many, if not most, of the new JWs are children being pressured into the cult. If half of the new ones were Witness kids, then the years needed for a JW to bring in an outsider would average about 53 years. Think about that—53 years!
As can be seen, Jehovah is blessing His people. :)

Freedom of religion or from religion is something all people should have. However, when a religion (or any other group) takes away the rights of health care and normal social behavior to its followers, I see no reason why a government can't step in to protect their citizens.
