Taking the Watchtower Our of the Boy: A Goodbye Song
by JuanMiguel inwhile i highly recommend the exchange of ideas and the informative camaraderie found on this board to anyone leaving the confines of the watchtower, i see an unhealthy pattern developing in me that tells me i should take leave, at least for now.. it's enjoyable and practically everyone is gracious, except for a few, and it does feel good to stretch the ole "thinker" in a bit of debate or even in-depth discussion.. but i sense in myself both a desire to "prove" myself linked to my past ego of yesteryear jehovah's witnesses proselytizing conflicting with my current understanding of why i left that type of religion behind.. unique among discussion boards.
very few discussion boards have an audience that understand terms like "qumran 4" or "masada" or .
"proto-masoretic," or at least has the capacity to look it up and come with a comprehension of its usage.

Noah's Missing Dove, Tower of Babel and Sumer
by doubtful ini was reading genesis again today - chapter 8 and 9. and here are two additional curiosities i found now that the blinders are off.. 8:12 - apparently noah releases this mischevious explorer dove, who in verse 12, ends up never coming back.
this raises three questions.
for one, why would noah have to send out a bird three times to explore for dry land in order to see if it was safe to exit the ark?

An argument against atheism: It's hopeless
by simon17 ini hear this critique against atheism a lot.
that its simply a hopeless way to live one's life.
believers give this argument, not passionately, but almost desicively, as if clearly a outlook they don't want for life is a wrong outlook.. is there anything you can do to reason with such ones?

"Do NOT go beyond the things written (but we can)."
by TimothyT ini was doing some research yesterday on this scripture: 1 corinthians 4:6!.
"now, brothers, these things i have transferred so as to apply to myself and a?pollos for your good, that in our case you may learn the [rule]: do not go beyond the things that are written, in order that you may not be puffed up individually in favor of the one against the other.".
read this from the watchtower 2008, april 15th, page 7:.

Where is that "Hidden HOOK"?
by Terry ina number of years ago i started doing something i had never done before.. i started questioning the basic premise of things which cause arguments.. why?.
long running controversy usually contains a hidden premise both sides buy into without knowing it.. by backing up one whole step and questioning the basis for the hidden premise the problem quickly goes away.. .
it looks yummy.
