Also, whatever happened to the great crowd chat board.....I can't seem to find it anywhere & I loved those lil ole biddies!

While farfetched I grant you, I don't put anything against a group of a few million who buy hook, line & sinker anything published in a human publication. Let the Watchtower/Awake tell them the sky is yellow - would screw up a few million peoples sense of color!!!
often in society we let every business and organization have there day.
it seems that we do not want to stifle freedom with endless restrictions, so we let people go to a point that will either bring success or failure.
the thing is, those are not always the results.
Ken - I have a feeling the JW's will see this as a sign that the world is turning on them, along with "false christianity". I will never for the life of me see how they can not see the "blood" on their own hands. Even as the accusations are being flung, they just believe that the accusers are just doing Satans bidding. Based on your own personal experience with your in-laws, I don't see the org. "going down". Perhaps some will leave as in 1975 & 1984, but for the most part I see most clinging even further to the JW's, putting their trust in "Jah". In a way, I see it having a more negative effect on the most brainwashed dubs. I doubt there will be a "bankruptcy" but I'm sure there will be a decrease in profits, for a time.

Which brings up an interesting theory, what happens when & if the GB decides the JW's are really supposed to be helping God along in his rush to the GT & Armeggedon?
since i was a believer from the earliest of my memories, i spent my formative academic years not thinking or caring much about my future.
although 1975 (armageddon / the end of the world / jehovah's judgment) was still a year away, as a naive, dumbass teenager it was looming very large on my radar screen.
besides *that*, my best jw buddy got baptized in february of that year.
Actually Englishmen - you kinda made my thought - I have a "reverse" reaction when seeing someone of different color, and that is that the other person will PRESUME I am racist. I don't believe myself to be racist towards anyone but a**holes, but I'm sure all have some preconceived subliminal thought processes that we are unaware of. I have an inter-racial family and for the most part I get along well with all the members of the family, white, black, spanish (i'm american indian). But there is one bro-in-law who makes me VERY uncomfortable, because I constantly feel he's trying to "trip me up" and show me to be the white racist he feels I and all whites are.
Teejay - there are b*tches in the world (presuming you are delivering to businesses & the receptionist) who are extremely rude, unpleasant, miserable people (believe me - I've been contemplating getting rid of ours for months). I'm sure there hasn't been a person who walked through our door who didn't wonder what her problem was. To constantly have a nagging doubt on what that negativity is based on - what a lot of emotional garbage you don't need. I say give um the finger (in secret :) ) - go on with your day and forgettaboutit! I believe that our society as a whole is learning to work together. Perhaps not our generation, but in generations to follow, there will be change. Its leaning that way. Its gotta - or the "whities" are in trouble, as they are quickly becoming a minority!
hmmmmm ok had a lil ole too many red wines here but:.........what really pisses you off about your jw family?..here are mine in reverse order:.
in 3rd place - they build up a wall as soon as you start to question their org .
2nd - they look at you as almost "satan" like.....and........... wait for it.........and the winner is:.
My biggest gripe would have to honestly be their policies on child abuse - that was my biggest obstacle to overcome after leaving.
Second, their ability to shut off any feeling for you - I have never met a more emotionally closed off group of people in my life. They can treat you as "dead" with almost joy at serving god.
Third, the way they still show up at my door on Saturday mornings when I'm trying to sleep in (an now the letters & phone calls I'm receiving as well!!!)
gosh........well off to visit my jw mom and dad tomorrow haven't seen them in a while, i've never approached them on anything i've learned here over the past few months, whilst i don't intend to be like a bull in a china shop with them (they are elderly), if i raise a subject,......but would like to plant a very very small seed of doubt with them?
?, which subject........un, silent lambs, blood etc ideas on what might work best, how to say it etc.. ta in advance.

Just bring up the dateline episode regarding the JW's - that should begin an interesting conversation - although SATAN is making all the silent lambs do what they do.
do you think it is better to just live and let live with family that are witnesses, or will not confronting them with their beliefs come back to haunt you?

I have to agree with Kelsey - my mother is 61 & so brainwashed, that even though I would love
to argue it out with her, and used to, I know now this is the life she chose, over her own children,
and she will die with this religion; I personally see her as such a frightened, uptight individual,
causing her doubts at this stage in her life (1st stages of alzheimers) could cause irrevokable
damage; I know how long it took me to get over (if I'm there) the JW life, I think it would be
cruel to cause that suffering in her - she doesn't have long enough to reap the benefits on the
other side of the struggle.
i have a friend who has had cfs for ten years.
he is on traditional treatments, but they never seem so work out.
it takes him weeks to get over a mild case of the flu.
Ash - I would recommend this person look into the "leaky gut syndrome" and see a specialist in regards to removing the wheat & dairy from their diet, going on a yeast removal diet for a period of time to get their gut flora back into a good balance. I have seen this work for a friend of mine. Most "normal" doctors would rather a person take drugs & just live with it, but the natural doc's have had much success with this.
