i am 47 and my parents are 73 and 78. my mom is such a hateful woman, out of 6 kids, i am the only one that even bothers with them, i call every week and have visited them often in arizona (i live in wisconsin) anyway i recently had an argument with my mom.
she insists on using the "n" word and my step-granddaughter is of mixed race.
even before that i hated that word.
Deb, I am probably the wrong one to give advice on mothers. You sound like you have a lot of issues as I have with my mom. People still use the word here. In some cases the black humans use it more than other humans. Just like it shows in movies. It sounds like she is using the word to push your buttons, maybe when she uses the n word you could use the f word or the s word. If you don't know what these words are, fake it.

I am sorry, I guess the point I was trying to make is that I live in the Bible Belt with a different church on just about every corner. The jw's have not cornered the market on rudeness. Different people from all religions not only ask personal questions, but they tend to get into your business. I was even stalked when I went to a new job by one of the Baptist's I worked with. I am not trying to downplay this, but I do understand what you have went through.

i have my reasons for not saying much on this thread and i really think the warning was put out there and it is up to you to trust jes,,,,,,,,someone you have known a long damn time, or someone who has already been deceptive.

Thanks, my husband & I used to live in Florida. We have both quit the jws. This site is a big help, we know we are not alone.
How did they come up with that???? Reminds me of my friend in Florida. Her son is df. When he started coming back to the meetings, she was not allowed to talk or encourage him in any way. But the elders who were suppose to encourage did nothing. Even one of the elders wife's questioned why they were not doing what they were suppose to. The elder said when the prodical son came back he came back all the way. Absolutely nothing to do with the situation. The prodical son didn't have to attend any meetings and his father could talk to him. Doesn't sound like this illistration has anything to do with the situation. I probably don't explain how I feel very well, but it sounds like they ( the ones telling you this) are layered in stupid.
i just had a jw come to my door and i had to threaten her to get her to leave!
i told the woman right off i was 'apostate' and had no intention of changing it.
she kept asking me personal questions which i told her were none of her business and she said she would have the elders come by and i told her that if they came by the better be wearing bullet proof vests!
At first I was shocked at the violence. Then I got to thinking of all the ones (jws) who have hurt me or my family in some way over the years. Jackie Winner (I hope her teeth and hair fall out) who called my daughter every name in the book including whore. Vern Gleason who I hope dies soon. I will dance on his grave. I have a lot of anger for a lot of elders over the years. Very few, count on one hand, who were nice. My husband and I never kissed elder butt. We were always a thorn in their side. So, I can understand your anger.

i've been here 2 years and posted over a year trying to be supportive of everyone but some things are even too obvious for even me to not see.
Plm. . . I am new, but I support your decision whatever it may be. I personally can never go back, I have had enough. It is hard to find new friends, everyone seems so busy with their own life. And for someone who has never been in this organization, sometimes it is hard to explain. I still have some friends in jw only because they live in different state and don't know I do not attend KH anymore.

when my son matt was three years old, he was molested by his 26 year old aunt (my sister in law).
Cathy, this is the reason I left. It didn't happen to me or my family, but I have heard of others and it is heart wrenching. I just went to Florida to visit my friend, a jw. I heard of another case in the Crenshaw Lake congregation. This case never got to court, but all the abused children are feeling the effects. Yes, the elders have no business doing what they do. They (the elders) are rotten to the core.

Yes, I agree the JW's are hard to work with, but I have found they are not the only ones. The last job I had I worked with a bunch of Baptists who went to the same church. They were the most viscious gossiping bunch of people. I live in a town the second question out of everyones mouth is where do you go to church. Personal questions? That is all anyone does here ask questions, gossip, and go to WalMart. I no longer go to JW, but I think all organized religion sucks.
