Yes, adoption is a better answer than abortion, in most situations.When was the last time you had to make that choice, and do you actually have empirical evidence to back up that statement? It'st he " you" that pissed me off.
I appreciate your honest response, and I apologize for offending you. I am very accustomed to this kind of argument coming from people who often do not have a clue about what they are talking about. You made it clear that you are not one of those people, and I do apologize for offending you.
It is a very emotional issue for both parties. I did not intend to offend you. I do agree with some of what you are saying, but I still think it is better to have an abortion than to fill up the foster care system with exactly what you referred to - the "problem children" who will not get adopted. I think that your personal, anecdotal evidence is good enough for the purpose of a discussion board, but probably not for making public policy. I suspect you would agree that neither is mine. Edited to say that actually a lot of kids stay in foster care, not just "some."
I feel that involvment in a cult makes a person very black and white in their thinking ( involment in high control groups can be (imho) attractive because we don't have to ponder on emotive dilemas)
Thinking in a 'this is good' and 'this is bad' kind of way gives a right and wrong approach to life. I believe now that there is so much more to dilemas such as abortion that each case should be viewed as individual cases with compassion, empathy and without judgment. Life experience has taught me that it is not just those that 'don't want' their babies that abort ( and there could be a lot of turmoil around why that might be so) but also those parents that desperately want, love and cherish their baby could decide to end a pregnancy because they fear that their child would ultimitally suffer if they were to continued until term. (as in the cases where a child is incompatable with life outside the womb) some times it's not a case of living or dying but rather how a child will die that becomes the ultimate dicision.
