I dont have a problem with torture if it gets good results and with some personality types it does. Himbalie was tortured and afterward they couldnt shut him up with quality information.

I just wish Bush and others would stop being so wimpish and admit they do torture. If they dont they in my opinion are not doing there job properly.

Islamic terrorists cant be persuaded with money, power or any of the usual carrots Bin Laden is a complete fanatic and to him the terrorism will only stop on the day of judgement. Nothing to him and al Quadia matters except murdering the infidels.

I had a muslim mate here in Australia to him fighting for god was the only thing that mattered and to him atomic weapons to blow up the west wernt a problem either. He explained these attitudes to us if he were to follow his religion correctly.

This is very scarey and to argue wheather it is moral to torture when information may be extracted out of people when they may know some information about a bomb that may have atomic material to kill ordinary people for years to come and may make areas uninhabitable.

I say it is immoral not to torture.

Barry, I thought your argument for torture was very well put.

Sounds like something out of the spanish inquisition. Too bad torquemunda hadn't known about this. He would have switched from fire to water. He could always have used the fire for the show of public burning, afterwards.

    I agree with Barry.

Hillary, I support dialogue and diplomacy before reaction. Do you honestly believe Bin Laden and his brothers actually can reach a fair consensus by talking and trying to work things out?

Bin Laden has clearly stated what will happen if America and its allies did not respond. He refuses to work things out and so do his cronies. So please, tell me how in practical terms, diplomacy is possible with persons of this mentality. (And if you can give us the perfect solution, I will see to it that the President hears about you).

I'm more a fan of skateboarding and snowboarding, but have no problem with water sports. . .

Hi Gopher, I know you're not being rude but I understand how annoying it is to see questions to topics already discussed. But I swear I read and did not see anything. If you notice the times some people were posting around the same time. I even pressed refreshed before writing mine up and the last one I saw was Shawns. I don't know if it was my computer going crazy or if I did something wrong. But just so ya know I did read before posting.

Wow ... a lot of generalizations and red herrings in response to a very specific question! This must be the internet. Not surprising that several posters' patriotism is also put in question because they haven't lined up with the torture marching band.

In answer to your question, dot man, yes I believe waterboarding is torture. Our fearless leader has another lie to add to his list when he says our country does not use torture. The Geneva Conventions should be adhered to, and the U.S. lack of compliance is just another blemish on our reputation in the world community.
