Yes, larc, but another point to consider is if you were 'lovable' as a JW and you left - instead of knocking on doors preaching a message of death perhaps now you spend time helping charities? Instead of being a drain on society you now give at least a little back? Just one example.

Perhaps, but you had those characteristics to be begin with and you exercised them as a witness. I was raised as a Witness, so whatever goodness I have, came from that source which was demonstrated daily by a loving mother. I was also lucky enough to go to a congregation where the people were nice. Perhaps, that affects my point of view.

Would I ever go back. Of course not.

For those of you who think they are evil, why do you want to maintain a relationship with your JW relatives. Isn't this a contradiction, or are they exceptions to the rule?

We go round and round with the word evil ... I don't think the average JW is 'evil' in the sense of the word that they are plotting the destruction of their fellow man. I think their actions and the effects they have on others have 'evil' results though. We go round and round with motivation vrs actual results. They may feel motivated out of love, even the ones that are so 'loving' they shun their children/g-children/parents whatever. They feel very justified in their actions. Doesn't make them 'right'.

By applying this definition of 'evil' you have to come to the conclusion that most people are 'evil' since the majority of their day to day activities are spent on providing for themselves, not fellow humans. But the JW carry it to a further extent by denying themselves all avenues of truely helping others - at least the busy non-JW business man (for example) sooths his conscience by donating $100 to Red Cross/whatever. While the JW sooths their conscience by waking you up at 9am sat morning to tell you to 'convert or die'.

I have not read all 6 pages here yet...only a couple......but
my sweet wife is still a faithful dub and she is the nicest person i know! That however dosen't mean that her being good un-does all of the bad the borg has done.
So should i hate witnsses? Absolutly not! Why? Should i hate a retarded person? No. Can a retarded person help it? No.
Can a person that's brainwashed help it? Were you all brainwashed at one time? Yes. Were we assholes because we were brainwashed? (some were) No. We were trying to do the thing we thought was right.
How can we hate someone who does what they think is right?
Being human, my blood boils too at the dubs.
It's hard to look at this and be fair and be human.

Hey larc,nice to hear from you again.Like you I was raised in it.From an early age I disagreed with it,but was to young to get myself out.When I did leave I left because I knew I was supporting the wrong thing.I took responsibility for my life and got out.It cost me dearly,but I never wanted anything to do with a group like that again.As long as I was there,I was as guilty as the organization I supported.I could complain and say"but I was a nice guy"and that would be true.But it dosent take away from the responsibility of a persons actions.If you really want to be a nice guy you have to take responsibility for your actions.There are good people still in the jws,but as long as they support evil,they support evil.Some are trying to get out and I wish them well.The rest would cut your throat on command and we both know thats true..HAVE A GOOD DAY EH...OUTLAW
