This "disassociation by default" is already standing policy for certain offenses, most notably blood related "transgressions" and neutrality "transgressions".

This "disassociation by default" is already standing policy for certain offenses, most notably blood related "transgressions" and neutrality "transgressions".

So it won't be like the terms are anything new.

It's just that the list of offenses will be broadened to include "fading".

Lack of field service and meeting attendence...new additions to the policy.

    I hear a whip crack.

This would not be good for my Mom--it would really hurt her. She believes it's the truth but has not gone to meetings because of some wrong doing that has not been taken care of--she cannot stomach the sisters involved and also cannot prove much about their behavior. Geez--this could cause some big problems within families!

    Initially, I'm skeptical.

BUT, if true, this actually adds a significant piece to the puzzle regarding the Dec 15th, 2008 WT. It's discussed here:

    http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/168315/1.ashx

In it par 12 states:...."12. Apostates (((feigning love))) are as dangerous to our faith as rocks hidden below water are to ships or swimmers. False teachers (((may seem to be generous))), but they are like waterless clouds in that they are spiritually empty. Such ones are as fruitless as dead trees in late autumn. They face destruction, as do uprooted trees. Wise we are to shun apostates.

The article is obviously referring to close friends and or family members who either share critical views about the WT Society or who've simply decided to just stop going overall.

Many of these people have chosen to fade away and for the most part keep quiet for the sake of maintaining important relationships. These are the ones who (((TRULY ARE SHOWING LOVE))) by wanting to keep such relationships intact even though having to live some kind of lie or double life in the process. These relationships are obviously very important to many who visit this site. But to WT World it's labeled as a fake love and void of real substance due to what they call these ones as being "spiritually empty"... "like waterless clouds" etc they are tagged.

These same folks, the article states, can also "seem to be generous". For example, how many times might those that have faded done truly generous and noble deeds to some still deep inside the faith? Many times people have been kind, helpful, supportive emotionally, physically, financially and more. Yet, if you are no longer an active JW, accepting the full range of JW teachings, and doing the complete JW routine, then you are now automatically labeled as dangerous, void of spirituality, feigning love, appearing to be generous and more.

Now, this new information presented on this thread, if true, would continue along the very same line of thought; that those who are not remaining active and obedient JW's now are going to be dealt with severely.

By combining these two items together we see a pretty sinister picture here going on.

It is not enough to simply speak out against the JW faith to be labeled and shunned by all JW's. But even those that simply STOP GOING, who are no longer active as JW's, without saying anything critical, appear to be lumped together and put into the very same negative light, with the very same consequences as those that speak out against the faith or who are disfellowshipped.

The information in this thread only supports and clarifies the Dec 15 WT statements.

Either you are an active, fully supportive of all teachings JW, or you will be soon getting the axe.

    Amazing.

PS- My wife and I have given our one son that still shuns us all money to help him out along with some nice gifts for our grandson -- who we cannot see at all -- after he was laid off from work when his wife (only 23 years old) suffered total kidney failure. We also often let him know that we still love him and are here for him by leaving messages on his cell phone. (He will not answer or call back at all).

Yet now, conveniently, our acts of kindness and love have been turned into the "feigning love" along with "False teachers that SEEM to be generous".... with waterless clouds,in that they are spiritually empty. Such ones are as fruitless as dead trees in late autumn. They face destruction, as do uprooted trees. Wise we are to shun apostates."

So much for heart-felt, family love and acts of kindness... and now, my wife, who has faded, rather than disassociate as I did (solely to keep a relationship with her son and brother), will be possibly getting the announcement and 'official' shunning that follows simply because she has stopped going.

    Can you say cult?

an inactive family member who is critical of the WTB&TS likely scares the ba-Jesus out of the GB. In their eyes they are an apostate with Carte Blanche to the family, dispensing truth and logic.

Although still skeptical I do see some truth and possibilities in some of the theories expressed here

Okay lets for discussion sake say this isn't just a mole trap........

This could play into both the current clampdown but also be spun into a mainstreaming aspect with a flicker of light or two once Ted isn't holding court.

Iloowy, is there any chance you can ask Tejota for the English copy of the information sent to him?

I predicted this back in September; http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/165843/1.ashx

We'd be crazy not to think that the WTS aren't monitoring sites like this and see all the talk about 'successful fades' etc. It's all about control.

Also, they JWs are about to study an article in the WT about helping faders to return. This is the faders getting one last crack of the whip. If they don't respond, as per the OP, they'll be asked to meet with 2 elders where it will be pointed that out that by failing to carry out their 'Christian' responsibilities as per WTS doctrine they are disassociating themselves.

What this also does is creates a new fear in the R&F; a fear of missing meetings and ministry. If you miss enough meetings and ministry you could be DAd and lose your family and friends! Obviously it won't be quite as cut and dried as that, but I guarantee you it'll be enough to put the frighteners on some faders and get them back to the KH. And what about sincere JWs who have genuine family or health concerns and who genuinely can't get to all of the meetings and out in the ministry every month? While they wouldn't fall into the category of someone qualifying to be DAd, it would still scare the crap out of them and add to their already burgeoning feelings of guilt.

    Smart move, WTS.

Looking at the original poster's history it does seem he has been taken in by some wild stories in the past. So this makes me even more sceptical. Not to say the original poster is not telling the truth, but if you look at his source for the information then, going by stories he has got in the past, it seems a bit incredible. On top of that is the fact that this rumour is nothing new. There have been scare stories about inactive ones being disfellowshipped for years. Nothing has ever come of it.

Not to mention the policy would be unworkable anyway because 1) there are simply too many inactive people to announce them all 2) lots of people would claim they have a 'reasonable excuse' for not going to the meetings and the whole thing would become a farse 3) there are plenty of people who would ignore any instruction to shun inactive family members and friends 4) it would shake out too many liberal-leaning Witnesses in the organization for whom such a policy would be going too far.

That the organization is trying to get away from using the disfellowshipping/disassociation terminology is clear enough from recent publications and the change to the formal announcement. But I don't think they will become more hardline on who they shun. If anything I expect them to be more relaxed on the issue in years to come.

Remember that the Org is actively preaching that the GB have to be obeyed even if the R&F do not understand the Organisational policy. The GB have to be followed no matter where they go is another teaching emphasised recently.

The assertions of the OP dovetail, IMO, with the zero tolerance stance of the GB in relation to apostates and now faders.
