Remember the history of the Society!
They have ALWAYS believed more members are not necessarily a good thing if they aren't committed. They'd rather start fresh with a loyal core than risk infection by so-so JWs.
IMAGINE THE POWER they will have for any who might be thinking of "fading". They'll lose everything. If you want to be with your family in somewhat "normal" relations, you'll have to do what Gumby did----go back.......I couldn't do it. Not now.

Vinny, this is pitiful. How much disrespect can he show? He will not speak to you but will happily take your money? His must have spoken to you just enough to ask you, didn't he? How does he reconcile this with honor your father and mother?

He remains part of "all the flock" for whom the elders must "render an account" to Jehovah.I find it very hard to believe that the WTS will be able to get this past the rank and file that merely not attending meetings or turning in time is a scriptural reason for "shunning" someone.

We'd be crazy not to think that the WTS aren't monitoring sites like this and see all the talk about 'successful fades' etc. It's all about control.
there are TONS of faders who did so without any clue what they were doing....like me. I did it without JWD or ever hearing the term FADE....the bible talks about us....those who "drift away"....heck we should be called drifters instead of faders!.......but i don't remember being instructions to the congo about what to do with those that have drifted away.......anybody recall?..........oompa
No time to read all four pages so I may be repeating other's thoughts. I am of the opinion that this is merely another administrative/legalistic change in order to avoid lawsuits and will not change anything in the day to day practice of shunning, only who they aim to blame for it legally.
I agree with the opinion that the WTS monitors this site. In the time I've known them, they've always been hypocrites. Reading secular literature, affiliating with the UN two name just two examples. I don't see how it would be any different where reading "apostate" literature is concerned. *yawn*
Well- Here's the deal. I'm not gonna go into panic mode and jump off a cliff because of this information. I mean - I would still be authentic and real with my JW family as I have developed a rapport with some of them as a fader. I would not recognize the WT societies shunning policy , and I would still call my witness parents, siblings, daughters, and nieces and nephews still in it ! I feel some of my relatives are authentic enough - they won't buy into the bull$hit . I'm not gonna sweat it. I'll cross this bridge when it comes up down the road. Not going to get all phobic about it and freak out. Just my take. I take life as it comes. One step at a time
Even if the family of JWs still treats you kindly, GUILT is what they might feel for associating with you, especially in public. You know how the WT. likes to pummel their slaves into theocratic submission.
