But there is no reason we cant all have a little fun with this.
True or not it is an interesting thought.

MINIMUS- I know SOME of my family may have guilt for associating with me - we don't do much together in public anyway - would probably just have occasional private visits in my aged parents home or something - we don't get together often as they live 4 hours away. But if any of my JW family has feelings of guilt - I'll just do what the Catholics do and sprinkle " holy water " on their heads and absolve them of any guilt they may feel ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Yeah, that will do it!
Sadly, these older ones must follow whatever new direction is given or they will be cut off. Remember in one of Ray Franz' books he talks about a very elderly brother named "Percy"? They threw him to the curb. These people are evil.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is another bogus rumor.
However, if it proves to be a rumor, The GB spies may want to take this up for discussion.
This move is awesome.
I could get tossed for doing nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Then when my family asked why I was DA'd I could respond "for doing nothing".
It gets my apostate ass out of the org and my wife can't be upset with me as I will not have changed my behavior and she has accepted my current stance as long as I am not making waves.
This also confirms the cult status, hopefully driving even more people away. -

Is anyone who is fading actually "worried" about this?
I know I'm d/a'd, and have pretty much re-invented myself, after leaving the jws, but I can only see this as a good thing for anyone still stuck in. The cult will self-implode on itself if this is true, (I'm still very skeptical). At any rate, your delivery is truly near if this has any validity. I wouldn't worry one bit about it, if I was fading.

I have not had time to read all pages of replies so may be repeating too,but it seems to me this could REALLY backfire on the Borg if they implemented such a policy.
I would immediately do all I could by whatever method,to inform those still in and those interested in joining, about the organisation,it's methods and false teachings.this would include using all of the media, locally and nationally.
The only reason I don't do this now is because all my close family are in,and so I'm stuck with a fade.
There must be many hundreds or more in my position,it would truly be the death knell of the WTBS to do this.
so I say to the WTBS Governing Body BRING IT ON I'm dying to expose you!

Quandry said:.."Vinny, you said: PS- My wife and I have given our one son that still shuns us all money to help him out along with some nice gifts for our grandson -- who we cannot see at all -
Vinny, this is pitiful. How much disrespect can he show? He will not speak to you but will happily take your money? His must have spoken to you just enough to ask you, didn't he? How does he reconcile this with honor your father and mother?"
When we found out, visited his house and brought a few gifts he would speak with us at the door and accept the gifts at that time. We let him know we loved him many times while fully respecting his JW life. Then, because her medical condition was so severe, they had to move to another island for specialized treatment. He could not work at all at the time so we helped them out some monetarily. And they had no problems accepting that help once again.
But then, after his wife's so-called 'anointed', Nazi-like hardcore JW mother moved in with them, all correspondence from his side ceased completely. No nothing.
We have left numerous voice-mail messages with nothing in return. Then one day his sick wife called my wife (who once again is NOT disfellowshipped, disassociated or even reproved), and told her (word for word) that she should give up on calling her son any longer and just forget about him, and that she still has two other kids anyway. And then, while my wife was crying on the phone, telling her she could never just "forget her son", she snapped at her telling her to stop whining.
Unbelievable phone call to say the least.
You'd think having kidney failure at 23, and almost dying, would soften her heart just a little. Not at all!
We would not be surprised if all this hate inside her is part of why her kidneys have failed. They still have yet to find out what's caused them to shut down. She is now on dialysis full time and is refusing a a kidney transplant at this time. At least this is what my wife has been told by other JW's.
It would not surprise us if accounts just like ours are specifically why that December WT has sorry statements like, "feigning love" and "seeming to be generous"... "though like waterless clouds, fruitless trees. rocks beneath ships" etc.
This way even the most sincere and good deeds and intentions are now easily explained away by WT leaders. If you are not a JW, or doing the full JW routine, then you are one sorry human being!
That soon needs to be quarantined.
Amazing stuff.

I don't see this as a way for the org. to go "mainstream." This is a way for them to do exactly what they are doing right now, perhaps with a bit of streamlining of the process, but reworded to legally cover their corporate asses.
DavePrimate Dave.... If this is put into motion it will be a continuance of what we are seeing with the other changes. On one hand we have strong clampdown culty actions but on the other implementation of policies and structure that allows easier transition into what will appear a more 'mainstream' version of accepting membership fluctuations. First a sifting then a expansion......

If they did this it would not suprise me. But there are problems with it. How many meetings constitute inactivity. Would not going out in service at all but going to the meetings qualify. What if half the congregation qualifies. The congregations I have been associated with have a large number of jws that do not go out in service. There could be entire families that qualify.
This whole thing would appear to be abandoning the lost sheep. The fact is the society has never cared for those that don't produce sells of their crap. The only thing that it would do is shake the fence that some are sitting on. In my opinion it would make it easier on some people who can't make the decision, it will be made for them.
The jws just can't see that you can not be forced in to faith. Just another way to get away from Jesus.

To me, the rumor sounds plausible. I think it likely that the Watchtower society may be headed in this direction, even if the current rumors are without merit.
There are inconsistencies in their current methods of handling disfellowshipped and disassociated ones. If the rumors are true it would help to rectify these inconsistencies. It also seems that this harder stance could be incorporated into their current policies and beliefs. It would only be necessary to make modifications in how their rules are enforced.
For example, when they make an announcement that someone is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses, it is assumed that the person was either expelled or voluntarily left the religion. However, their own literature indicates that it is necessary to actually be involved in the witnessing work to be a Jehovah's Witness. Why couldn't their generic announcement and subsequent shunning apply to someone who simply became inactive?
The most serious crime in JWland is disagreeing with the governing body. They have already defined this as apostasy, even if the individual doesn't spread their views. It is not always clear whether disagreeing with the governing body is a disfellowshipping offense or an indication that the person has already disassociated themselves from the organisation. It appears that it has been common to just decide that those who express some sort of disagreement (either verbally or by their actions, such as attending another church or getting involved in politics) have already disassociated themselves. When faced with possible legal consequences of expelling individuals who accept blood, they have been able to sidestep the issue by just saying the person chose to disassociate by their actions. The effect is nearly the same except that they are denied an opportunity to show repentance. There doesn't seem to be any reason why they couldn't apply this procedure to any offense. If someone commits immorality, the elders could decide that it is an indication of disagreement with watchtower rules and that the offender has already removed themselves from the organisation. Any offense or failure to follow directions could be viewed as an act of apostasy.
I believe this process is already happening. Elders already have the power to deal with troublemakers in a variety of imaginative ways. Many just don't realise the extent of their power. It would be easy for the governing body to quietly encourage the elders to take a harder stand without letting the average publisher find out about it. They wouldn't even have to change the rules, they could just present them in a different light. It could even be argued that recent comments in the Watchtower are already shifting the perspective on how faders are viewed.
