I just did some research on this pisos family and this is what I found. Curious how it sounds to you guys?
I have always felt (since my awakening) that the NT was some jews way of getting away from the old vengeful diety after their greek enlightenment following their babylonian captivity.

If the 144,000 are in heaven, why the command in Revelation 7 not to harm land or sea or trees until the 144,000 are sealed?

We know they cant be literal Jews since Jesus told them 'your house is abandoned to you' and subsequently the good news was opened up to the Gentiles/Nations...from which to bring a kingdom of priests...

snowbird A careful reading of Romans chapters 9-11 should disabuse your mind of that notion, Loz.

Exactly, they would have to be on earth and because they had been sealed the angels were told not to harm them when God's anger was unleashed.Rev 9:4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
This was at the blowing of the fifth trumpet. The blowing of these 7 trumpets in Chapter 9 is a pretty turmultuous time and described as very destructive. The JWs believe these trumpets were blown at a series of conventions in the 1920s and don't recognize them as being part of Armageddon. If armageddon proves to be as mild as the fulfilling of the 7 trumpets then it should go pretty much unnoticed.
