    Flipper,

I'm sure you've already thought this over and over and over; do what you plan to do, it appears to me you can handle whatever they throw at you. I hope your daughter comes around and I hope it's soon.

djegghead said: but not one of Jehovah's Witnesses are forced to obey God in this regard. The elders in the local congregation will urge fellow Witnesses and non-Witnesses alike to seek medical treatment from those hospitals that pursue blood management protocols and offer bloodless surgery as an alternative to blood transfusion, but the medical decisions that one makes are personal matters........

'Personal matters'? Ya right. You must think you're talking to people who haven't a clue what the WTS teaches in this regard. Any Witness who conscientiously accepts a blood transfusion leaves themselves wide open to be totally shunned by their JW family members and friends for committing the horrific 'crime' of trying to save either their own life, or that of their spouse or children. As far as I know, this is the ONLY religion that actually punishes members for trying to save lives. Yes, bloodless surgery works in many cases, but certainly not in all cases. Since the command to "keep abstaining from blood" was talking about the dietary laws where the Jews were not supposed to eat the blood of a dead animal, then it has absolutely nothing to do with taking blood from a live human being in order to sustain life. Which part of that don't you understand?

He then said: The risks associated with the use of blood in connection with the transfusion of blood and blood products far outweigh the benefits that one hopes to obtain. This is true.

Horse-shit. I lost a family member about a year a a half ago because the kind of disease he had required blood transfusions. But because this f*cking cult denied that to him, he's now a bunch of ashes in an urn, instead of enjoying life to the fullest. So please don't try justifying your insane crap about how 'risky' it is to accept blood transfusions.

But health benefits also accrue to those that are putting their faith in God and obeying His command to "keep abstaining ... from blood." (Acts 15:29)

Ya right. Maybe you should check out this discussion we did a few years ago on the subject. It basically blows the idea that 'Jehovah's law on blood was binding on all mankind': http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/136144/1/Question-Why-was-it-ok-to-sell-unbled-meat-to-a-foriegner-for-them-to-eat

    The statement

Being transfused with someone's else blood means losing the chance for eternal life. This is not true.

is interesting, and there is a perfect thread for it at the following link:

    http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/207184/3/Inviting-djeggnog-to-discuss-the-blood-doctrine

The statement is a brilliant use of words because it might be true. I have never heard a JW say that -being- transfused means losing the chance for eternal life. However, there is something I have heard a JW say from the platform: -choosing- to be transfused with someone else's blood means you are -bloodguilty-. And further, from the platform, if you are not doing -all- you can to tell others not to choose to be transfused you are -bloodguilty-.

IMO, expounding on the blood doctrine belongs in a thread focused on that topic. In case it is not clear, a perfect thread for it is at the following link:

MRS> JONES- DJ is a legend in his own mind.

WATSON- I'm sure DJ has informed himself of the vast knowledge of the WT society - yes. Which is not saying much.

DANABUG- Yes, I've given lots of thought on how I will handle this situation. I've dealt with so many situations like this now - I should be able to deal with it appropriately. Thanks, I hope I can get close to my daughters again.

MARY- Good points you make. I can't think of any other religion who tells it's members they can't save their lives through safe medical procedures. I know Christian Scientists think illness is in the mind I believe - but I'm sure they allow their members to have life saving blood transfusions. DJ's ignorant talk about how blood transfusions should be restricted is a indirect insult to the pain you felt when your family member died due to not being allowed to receive a blood transfusion to save his life. But most JW's are trained to not have real human empathy anyway. They are programmed robots.

INTERESTED ONE- Thanks for the links to the other threads. Bottom line is JW's believe they will be destroyed at Armageddon by God if they are " unfaithful " and take a blood transfusion. So the WT society keeps them in fear of being Disfellowshipped and alienated from the organization and friends and family. So essentially JW's are trapped into observing taking no blood transfusions being coerced out of fear of being shunned by family and friends. It's totally immoral on the WT society's part

Has your daughter contacted you yet, Mr. Flipper?

TEC- Nope. Haven't heard a word yet from my daughter. Even though I sent her a card saying I had a nice chat with the elder and invited him in to talk. So, yeah, I'm curious as well. I may call my daughter this weekend if I haven't heard anything from her. We will see

You are in our hearts (as is everyone in a situation where the religion of a loved one prevents normal relationships), Flipper. We are all hoping for a triumph of the human spirit over this man-made "theocracy"!

Reading DJ's posts really makes me feel sorry for his family as it seems like he is one of those power hungry, domineering elders who feels they are smarter than everyone. these are the types of people who beat their wives and abuse their children. he seems like a person who tries to dominate others, i hope he doesnt have a wife and kids. he is truly a sick, twisted, and mentally ill person, the exact kind of people the watchtower cult attracts. they are losers in life, and the only place they have any authority or power is in the cult as an elder.

    Mr. Flipper -

All the best to you. You have done well following your heart and doing what you think is best for you and yours and your thoughts on how to handle being back on the radar will serve you well. A few on this board are going a little crazy with their attacks and advice. Oh well, at least they are showing their true colors. It is kind of like having the WTS print all of their garbage over the years, it provides a nice record for all to see.

On a brighter note, the #1 pitching staff in baseball is getting ready for the regular season. Go Giants!

    Best,

    Zarco
