Okay, I'm going to slow down and get both of your opinions on this scenario.
The Israelites followed the God of Abraham, and then later followed Moses, and other prophets. (or failed to follow) They didn't get everything right. They didn't understand everything. (maybe some didn't want to, some weren't capable, and some never had the chance becasue of the 'lying pen of the scribes' or the blind leading the blind) Some of them did the best they could with what they had. Some of them didn't care.
But they knew (as their prophets told them) that one day, someone was going to rise up from among them, and that One was going to shed light on everything. That ONE was going to be the Truth. That One is who they are supposed to listen to, when that one arrives.
So why in the world, when that One arrives, would anyone listen to what was imperfect over Him?
If for a thousand years you know a shadow of what is to come... and finally the Truth that you are waiting for actually comes... why would you keep looking at the shadow -which is not truth, but only a shadow of the truth - instead of looking at the Truth?
Can you guys answer me that question?
Peace,
tammy
