    V. Your brain is capable of calming you and giving you peace. It is the seat of emotions. Emotions don't come from without, but from within. I too experience such feelings---and I don't pray. So where is that peace coming from? I say my brain has worked some things out for me.

I'm sorry I have read your post a few times but I don't understand the question.

Try reading the shorter version that I wrote to NC. I think I was more clear then.

Tec, you have stated that I have made some wrong assumptions about you. Now I will assume nothing. I will ask.

    Okay.

Where does your knowledge come from?

My knowledge about Christ began with the writings about Christ.

    Peace,

    Tammy

This is a simple question but one I hope someone will respond to without saying " delusion'.
I was a born in and prayed to Jehovah all my life. I felt at times I received answers to my prayers. I often felt a strong connection to God and even felt that silver cord that many talk about. I felt a powerful sense of peace and sense of direction many times. It helped me get through many hard times.

So what was happening if God does not exist ? Where did all that peace and sense of direction in my life come from?

How about giving yourself credit for working out what was best for you and listening to that positive part of you instead of giving into negative thinking?

I used to have the same thing. We are programmed to read meaning and pattern into random events. Good things happen we think we are blessed. Talk to a Muslim or Mormon they will tell you about similar experiences. Its disconcerting to accept that life is capricious so we look for purpose.

No sorry no better but I think it would be helpful if you consider NCs question.

Okay. So where are those writings about Christ?

The ones I have read have been placed in a book called the bible.

I need more specifics. You have said much of the bible is unreliable or tainted by POV. And has also been pointed out, it is many books just bound together. So where to you find the writings about christ?

So what was happening if God does not exist ? Where did all that peace and sense of direction in my life come from? . . . Viola.

    How we percieve things has more than one origin. To illustrate;

If you chain an elephant to a stake for a week . . . you can then remove the chain and replace it with a piece of string and the elephant will not break free. He has become mentally conditioned to his captivity. He may even resent his captivity and regard his trainer as cruel . . . and yet the reality is, he can depart whenever he wishes. Such is the power of belief . . . and it is much more powerful in humans than elephants.
