Was it okay for god to watch and/or participate in Job's TORTURE,,, and

Depends on the purpose and/or the good that came of it. If the purpose was the above that I listed, then perhaps yes.

Is that the act of a loving god? And do you see this as a literal story, or a parable?

I don't know if it is a literal story or a parable.

I understand that it sounds as though I am wishy washy on this... and that is probably because I don't know for certain. So I don't like to give a definitive judgment on something I am not certain of. I have not heard (or asked) about this story. If ever I do understand something definitively on this story, other than what I shared above, then I will try and share.

    Peace,

firstly the problem with the geneology differences is it brings the credibility of the authors. plain and simple, one or both must be liars, they both cant be correct. their intent is to decieve, thats all that can be said about it. if someone starts a tale with a big downright lie, why believe anything else they say? either they have resoect for the truth, or they dont think much nof their audience.

lastly jesus message isnt that kind or good as what you think. there are numerous scriptures where he says some very horribnle things about causing division in families, death and murder and racism. regardung the last take a look at the story of the woman with a problem mthat made her unclean.'the scripture and apostles are very much angry that a samaritizn womN dared to troubele jesus. is that really an example of goodness from jesus or the apsotles? think how many women iver the years were treated as durt, because jesus and the bible says women are below men to say it succinctly.

if you want scriptures for each of my points just ask.

GOD tortured Job to make his point.

I have an opposing opinion. I do not believe that God did the torturing after reading the account. Satan set the rules and compelled God to action. If the question wasn't answered by Job then one of us would have to pick up where Job left off. The Bible as a whole is about transcending pain and anquish into greener pastures. Everything is difficult in the beginning and with God the beginning is very long.

When you comment...often you come accross like a child stamping their foot. I am right, you are wrong, why can't you see it? If you cannot see what I am saying is correct, you are willfully being obstinate. It coudn't simply be that you do not understand what I am saying or need time to process the information I am presenting. Or maybe I am presenting the information in a way that is not as clear as I think it is.....So now, I will resort to calling you names, because thats how an adult teaches a child. And I always behave like an adult....

Still thinking, EP is a classic narcissist. His selfishness knows no bounds, as you have articulated well and it's a waste of effort trying to change him.

But, in case it wasn't clear, if a grown adult, on a public forum, presume to make a claim that is demonstrably false, then claims they can tell others what to think, then, when called on those things, can engage in snide comments, ridiculous attempts to twist words to mean what they want and change the subject, then yeah, in my opinion, at that point, there is no more meaningful conversation and mocking is the way to go.

If you think mocking is the correct response, then mock away, my pleasure if you need a punching bag. One day maybe you'll feel better about yourself. I will admit to being snide, but everything else quoted is wrong.

attempts to say they have secret knowledge and that's why they are right

You can you please substantiate this claim because it seems like an opinion to me presented as a fact. The whole point of me coming into this thread was to state my beliefs of which I knew beforehand that EP was going to give me crap for them. What secrets do you want to know?

I have always pictured the two of them,,, waiting to see who is proved right

The question is about who gets the humans Satan or God? Who do the humans love? Think of it like two parents getting divorced and one parent forcing the child to choose between the two. It's an unfair choice, but is forced upon the child. God isn't about those kind of tests, but Satan, the bad parent is.

But, when those personal beliefs are state as fact, when a question about them causes the poster to doulble down on the rhetoric, insistence and claims, then it's on.

Do you ever get gold stars for completing self proclaimed missions?

Allow me to put in my two cents here. Biblical morality as we understand it right now in our modern age, have been heavily influenced by Augustine and Aquinas. I read a book called "God at War". It presented a different perspective on why there is good and evil in the world today. It makes sense to treat Biblical morality as a state of war between good and evil with mankind as the battleground. Take a look at the ancient mythologies, they all deal with warfare between good and evil, if we try looking at the Bible as a chronicle of war between God and Satan, then everything makes sense.

The Augustinian and Aquinian thought of God being omnipotent (all controlling) contradicts itself when things like the Holocaust, rapes, murders and other evil things happen. In fact, it totally erases "free will" from the equation.
