Their victory was in writing it down . And preserving it.

    mP:

It was at best a pyrric victory the Bible has been a curse for the poor jews for the past 1900 years. How many pogroms and other nasties have they endured because they are lablled Christ Killers in the gospels ? It would have been safer for them if the Bible never remained at least they wouldnt have Xianity after them all the time.

If it weren't for their own writings which we call the Bible, there would be no Jews walking about today. Their preservation of their writings, and their keeping it alive as something relevant in every age they have lived through, is what has preserved their existence as a people, despite exile, persecution, and minority status in every nation they have ever lived in during that time. If they had let go of their book, they would not be here today as a people. They would have become a historical curiousity, as so many ancient vanished peoples have. Not only that, their great cultural literature truly changed the rest of the world.

The way they tell it, they were major players in league with Babylon and Egypt.

    mP:

Actually there are major portions of the text where Egypt is absent from the record. This was the time they were vessels paying tribute and then the favourite Josiah died from an Egyptian arrow.

What are your comments about the fact the Bible in its entirety is not well thought out and non contradictory but rather the thoughts of elitist priests and kings as i previous stated ?

I think you need to go back and answer some of the questions I asked you in my post at the top of page 8. You ignored a lot. I'm pretty sure you would find the answer to the above question in one of the answers that i have already given you.

Bible is many books, many authors... many scribes translating. Some is literal, some depicts the spiritual, some is figurated, some is parables to teach moral lessons, some is law, some are witness accounts, some is scripture and some is not, some is prophets, some is wise sayings, some is the history of a people.

The bible... as I already stated... is not perfect. The law and the prophets are not perfect. But these lead and point the way to CHRIST... the one to whom we are supposed to listen to. Not looking back (as Lots wife did)... but looking to him, the Life, the Word, the Truth of God.

    Peace,

It was an interesting comment just from me saying if there was no fault people would not be able to find it. (referring of course to THIS discussion)

    Truth is truth.

I just gave you an example to show that your comment - no matter the discussion - was not correct.

    Peace,

Not only that, their great cultural literature truly changed the rest of the world.

mP: Besides the bible what literature are you referring too ? I think the Greeks contributed far more to our society with their attempts at questioning the universe instead of making up stupid sky god stories.

    TEC:

Where is this statment: "the law of moses is perfect"?

    mP:

I thought it was implied given that the law of Moses was from God.

Jesus says God is perfect in Mat 5:48 therefore his law must also be perfect.

    ? Matthew 5:48 ?

    New International Version (©1984)
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

MP: Basically if your rich you can rape to your hearts content. Thats really sad...

TEC: IF that happened (and you are stating only conjecture here)... then it is a man abusing the law (twisting it to his own ends)... and I expect that eventually, someones father or brother or uncle is going to put an end to that man.

    mp:

Again you give your emotional commentary and neglect to address why God made a law that made the situation possible ? How could God be so foolhardy and think it would not be abused. Why didnt he just punish rape by death etc. A fine just adds to the insult of the situation and shows that God thinks poor girls can be bought and sold like commodoties. Tehres just so much evil about this law from God its sad quite sad.

y not including any story or account in such a case, God in his book the Bible is focusing that women are always to blame and at fault.

    A couple of errors here.

First, that there is no story does not mean that it never happened.

    mP:

I quite clearly stated in the Bible. If God included stuff in the bIble that was important so we could learn thats the entire point. He didnt care enuff to include a story where men get punished to make a point and warn everybody. Its that simple.
