From Perry, a member of the poor persecuted white christian majority:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

You have inverted the meaning and intent of this writing; it was written about the persecution of MINORITIES, as in Jews in white christian Germany, much as gays have been discriminated against, beaten and killed.

You have that verse backwards, and in response to a lying newspaper, the Washington Times.

That a law exists to prevent discrimination against gays, and is being enforced, that makes you afraid??

Gay Danish couples win right to marry in church
Homosexual couples in Denmark have won the right to get married in any church they choose, even though nearly one third of the country's priests have said they will refuse to carry out the ceremonies.

The country's parliament voted through the new law on same-sex marriage by a large majority, making it mandatory for all churches to conduct gay marriages.

Denmark's church minister, Manu Sareen, called the vote "historic".

"I think it's very important to give all members of the church the possibility to get married. Today, it's only heterosexual couples."

note only 'nearly one third of the priests said they would refuse..."

AlphaMan you're right... those people " declining to marry same sex people" should be praised for their views, I mean what's next mixed race marriages!? Oh, wait, damn it.

    .

Don't single me out pal. I made it clear if it's a public wedding business, then they shouldn't discriminate. However, a private clergyman should not be forced by jail threat from the government to do something that their religion doesn't support. That is freedom of religion. This country was founded on freedom of religion. Gay couples should repect this and simply find a minister or state official who will marry them. I could care less what gay people do, but what really bothers me about this is how the Christian pastors were singled out, when everyone knows how Muslims feel about gay people. Gay people have gained a lot of acceptance, but they lose support when they try to ramrod their beliefs down people's throats who simply believe differently. Who would even get enjoyment from making somebody marry them that politely declined because they thought their eternal salvation would be compromised? Just like a JW elder who refused to marry a DF'd person....I would just simply move onto finding someone who would marry us.

AlphaMan, just to be clear we are not pals. If you do not want to follow the law and keep in step with the prevailing morality of the time, do not get a licence to marry people - simple.

It will be difficult to stop 'singling you out', you see homophobia is not really acceptable behaviour.

You seem to be suggesting that a 'gay couple asking to be married' at a licenced venue equates trying to " ramrod their beliefs down people's throats"? If two Christian gay people want to marry in a church is that so wrong?

It is great to see when you noticed this discrimination against gay people your first thoughts were 'oh my god, they are singling out Christian pastors'... yeah that's the real injustice here. How dare they single out Christians in this great country, this great Christian country... everyone knows the Muslims hate gays too.

Let's be clear here, are you suggesting that a loving god would 'compromise' a pastors 'eternal salvation' by allowing a gay couple to be married?

Freedom of Religion should not allow homophobics to trample on the rights and discriminate against others.

Also, you really need to watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om7O0MFkmpw

Have these people fulfilled the basic requirements to be a member of that church....? I find this suspicious. Can Protestants demand that a priest marry them in a Catholic Church? There is more to the story here.

My fictional couple "asking to be married", were just that. I believe churches can be exempted from marrying gay couples.

I do not agree with this... clearly... I believe that any licenses should be revoked or the state witness should not attend any venue that refuses to marry gay people.

In situations like these, homophobics are given a free reign to pour out their bigoted views, often without being called out for them - they cloak themselves in the flag calling on Freedoms and Free Speech, all the while trampling them into the ground.

Obviously you don't understand sarcasm. Let's be very clear MASH...NO we are not pals. By me saying pal, I might be calling you an a-hole.

Nothing I have said equates to homophobia. I simply take the position that people should have the right not be marry same sex couples if they have a religious belief against it. You obviously have a problem with freedom of religion.

If it's a licensed wedding business, then they should welcome and marry everyone. If it's a private denomination they should have the freedom to marry whoever they want.

Gay couples causing a Christian Pastor to be jailed for politely declining to marry a gay couple is ramroding their beliefs down his throat. Some Christian Pastors probably do think marrying a gay couple affects their eternal salvation. That's probably why they refuse to want to do it.

Good grief....quit trying to make people do something they don't want to do, and simply move onto finding a minister that has no problem with it. Freedom is that simple.

Alphaman, yes clearly I do not understand sarcasm.

Nothing I have said equates to racism. I simply take the position that people should have the right not be marry black couples if they have a religious belief against it. You obviously have a problem with freedom of religion.

If it's a licensed wedding business, then they should welcome and marry everyone. If it's a private denomination they should have the freedom to marry whoever they want.

Yeah, freedom is that simple, everyone is free to discriminate against who ever they want... I get it now.

You are not homophobic just like whoever wrote that quote above is not a racist. We could try the quote with 'jews and jewish' and somehow not be a antisemite? etc... etc...

    MASH,

Your ridicule is all you got. Your ridicule is meaningless, so bring it on. It would not matter one iota if you scream your ridicule at the top of your lungs. It will not stop the fact that homosexuality is condemned by God and that virtually NEVER in the history of the planet has ANY society married such unions. There is no record of even the Sodomites doing such a thing.

I truly have compassion for anyone trapped in sexual sin. But the answer is not coddling them:

      "Have you not read, that

He who created them from the beginning made them male and female

, and said, 'For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh'? Consequently they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." - Jesus

...He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter.... (2 Peter 2:6)

The position is clear for Christians. It makes no difference what a smaller authority says Christians should or should not do. Christians expect to be singled out for their godliness.

    In The Criminalization of Christianity:

The Talmud’s writings reveal that “before the Flood people started to write marriage contracts between men, in other words, homosexual ‘marriage,’ which is more than homosexual activity – it’s giving an official state stamp of approval, a sanctification … of homosexual partnership.”

In fact, he said, “the writings indicated that it wasn’t even so much the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back,’ but that the sin in and of itself is so contrary to why God created the world, so contrary to the order of God’s nature, that God said then and there ‘I have to start all over … to annihilate the world and start from the beginning. …’”

Rabbi Spero went on to say, “Even in ancient Greece they did not write marriage contracts between men. There was homosexuality, and it was wrong, but there was not an official ‘blessed’ policy. … Marriage is ‘sanctification’ (not simply a partnership).” He said to confer the title of sanctification and holiness upon this behavior is “probably one of the greatest sins of all that one does against God’s plan for this world.”

The one time it happened was: “During the days of Noah.” When I first heard this, my mind immediately went to a verse I’ve heard many times but never with such relevance. The verse is found in Matthew 24:37. It reads:

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

    .

And what race is homosexuality? I thought it was a sexual orientation or preferance. I suppose a black minister or Jewish rabbi suddenly becomes racist if they refuse? I could care less what the Bible says about homosexuality, but I support any religion being consistent with their conscience if they do not want to marry a same sex couple. (even Muslims)

When does the forcing people to do things against their conscience stop? What if I want to marry 2 or more women? What if I'm not Catholic, but I want to be married in the big Catholic church?

Issues like this are better served if gay couples also respect the beliefs & consciences of others. They can just simply find someone to marry them that does not have a problem with it. Simple as that.
