Greetings to those of you whom I have never met, and a big howdy to my old buddys. Sorry I have been away for so long. After coming to the realization here that the WTBTS was not what it claimed to be, I felt the need to isolate myself from the opinions of others to determine what I could believe (if anything) concerning religion. It was somewhat of a rocky road but eventually I was able to sort things out to my satisfaction. That was quite some time ago and I have long since revisited this great site. Sadly (well sad for me, probably gleefully for some of you) my aol dialup connection only allowed me to lurk and not post. I had disconnected my cable and dsl (three different computers) as I found I was spending too much time indoors. I finally decided dialup was not cutting it so once again I have dsl (WOOHOO!).
Of course this means that now, once again, I get to sing the "I-can't-believe-I-actually-posted-that" morning after blues.
I would like to suggest to those of you who do have shingles to hang displaying your credentials in the mental health profession to please do so before offering a diagnosis of SJ's mental health. To those of those who do not, please....well you get my point. I am not a mental health professional but my x earned her phd in that field and I think it's safe to say there are enough unqualified "papered" psychologists around to offer opinions without having to listen to unqualified, untrained armchair psychologists.
To those who suggested that Simon lock this thread for fear that SJ might form a cult....hmmmm, are you singing the "I-can't-believe-I-actually-posted-that" morning after blues?
SJ,
I think you joined the board shortly after I left. I haven't read all your posts, but I have enjoyed the ones I have read. Your explanation of the 144,000 and the Great Crowd in Revelation being holy ones (anointed) was pretty much how I understood the text as I prayerfully reread the Bible with an open mind ante WTBTS. I loved your explanation of Christ being small and not physically appealing. This makes perfect sense to me. It reminded me of complaints my x would make about being judged by her appearance. She was extremely attractive and found her peers, students and patients quite often tried to "hit" on her or flirt with her rather than allow her to do her job as a psychologist. Sadly, most of us judge others by looks. It would be quite logical for Christ to be unappealing to our eyes to require his followers to use their hearts instead. Your explanation of Christ taking on the illnesses of others was beautiful as well. It puts the miracles in a totally different light. Who wouldn't cure lepers, the blind, etc. if they could....unless they had to be afflicted with some measure of the infirmity. How much love that would take!
I'm sorry to hear about your friend from the Shingle Springs congo, I know some familys from there and they are a pretty dysfunctional bunch..maybe it's the water. Hmmm, maybe that's why I like your posts, I'm from the Sacto area also. Naw, nevermind, it can't be the water. I don't drink tap water....maybe... it's the air? Yea, that's it! Drop me an email sometime, I'd love to chat ([email protected]).
Heh, so does this put me in the AGuest cult? Sorry, only one cult per lifetime for me thanks. Honestly, I think Shelby would be the first to dissappear is she really thought someone was goofy enough to try to form an AGuest cult. Hummm, does have a nice ring to it though....Cult of the AGuest.
The weather is beautiful here today, low 80's with a light delta breeze. I'm off to kayak Lake Natoma (one of the best kept Sacto secrets) for a while, I'll check back later to apologize to any I might have offended.
