Security services have raised the UK threat level to Critical meaning an attack is "expected imminently". This is an action taken by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) not by politicians.

It may suggest that they have intelligence that last night's suicide bomber had accomplices who are at large.

Edited to add - This means the military will be on the streets to assist the police. They will wok under the command of civilian police. Operation Temperer has been invoked...

So the guy and his associates attended the Didsbury Mosque & Islamic Center, a muslim-brotherhood salafist cesspit.

I hope someone burns it down. If not it should be blown up and bulldozed. They need to loose and learn that if they stand by and allow this to happen and fester, that they will pay a price..

It would appear that the guy seemed totally normal, actually born in Manchester, liked sport and stuff. Indications are that he became radicalised - whatever that means - all by himself in his room as he surfed the dark web.

@Snugglebunny: Scary stuff... it seems like this is how ISIS recruit these days. Mass surveillance of ppl who are into this crap is the only way forward. In my opinion, if you frequent a Mosque full of extremists, you can't expect to have privacy.

It's unbelievable that these misguided fanatics are blowing up children in the name of their god. Sickening

This person wasn't a maniac. In fact he was probably as calm and collected as we all are.

I highly doubt that. I think without fail, suicide bombers are highly suggestible, of very low intelligence, probably have underlying mental issues and are generally outsiders of some description.

The people who prey on them on the other hand .... :(

Was shopping years ago in Manchester when IRA bomb went off, never returned to shops.

Yet nobody blamed ALL catholics for the IRA attack. No one said, 'he's a catholic he must be a sympathiser'. No one attacked or set fire to catholic churches on the mainland. Strange eh.

The blame was rightly laid at the door of those who carried out the attack. As it should be in this case.

Imagine if the British Govt announced the following.

"In view of the poor opinion held by some people of the British way of life HM Government has decided it will pay business class for one way flight to the country of choice for anyone who wishes to leave. If any member of a family wishes to depart the rest must go with them as we don't wish to break up families. This departure will be for life and will include any currently in prison."

You shouldn't expect to have life and liberty.

But if Catholicism was constantly attacking people all over the world and contained "kill the non-believers wherever you find them" commandments then I think people probably would.

The blame was rightly laid at the door of those who carried out the attack. As it should be in this case.

Stop trying to shift the blame away from the underlying cause.
