I don't think anyone is advocating a better world without believers. It is a better world without belief. Even you must agree that most beliefs historically and culturally are rubbish (Thor) ergo people are unable to differentiate between belief in something true and belief in something false ( without recourse to the scientific method.)

Where would society be now if people had never worshipped Thor and had instead spent that energy and time in scientific research? I suspect you'll see where this is going. Billions of minds pouring their energy into discoveries that will benefit future generations v people selfishly searching for personal supernatural fulfilment?

Yes, Q, now you are making sense. But it apears to me by your Thor illustration that you are using the past to define the present which defines the future. That is something we all must avoid, believers and non-believers.

Anyone who believes God jumps in to save or protect them and allowed John the Baptist to be beheaded is a flaming fuck-tard. We've seen the WT elude to divine intervention and we've all heard the "experiences" at the CAs and DCs and urban legends that float around the Hall. These are merely anecdotal myths to promote the interests of the Watchtower company and its subsidiary corporations. Faith healing is the same claptrap and anyone who believes it (no, I don't care if someone reading this is one of the morons) is an idiot.

doesn't the past define the present?

    Of course . . .

With science the past is yesterday . . . with religion it's thousands of years ago . . . that's why it's so regressive.

Yes it is Earth's habit to let the past define the present. I am on a mission. Can you guess what it is?

    Define is equal, isn't it?

Like a definition in the dictionary equals the word it is defining.

Why do you think it is all right for the past to equal the present?
